This post will probably be ignored like my last posts.
Keeping in mine that the guest book solicits comments
and feedback.
I would like to know why a linked web page was added
to this cluster page, that does nothing more than link
to another page alreadly linked on the Cluster Page?
Circular linking is not very productive and is a time
waster.
The link to this page on the cluster site should be removed:

Be advised to be careful in addressing Rootsweb policies.
My email correspondence regarding this page was ignored. My last post to this guest book which solicits feedback, has had unexpected response.
My return email address has been filtered from the RootsWeb Mail Server! Now I am still getting list traffic from the various Rootsweb Lists that I have belonged to for sometime but I am now banned from sending to those lists or any others on Rootsweb. This action was done with not so much as a howdy do! So be wary on your criticism, big brother might have you rubbed out!

I tried to contact the cluster page point of contact for
over a week with no response.
My request: If Carman-l and Carman-Roots at Rootsweb are private lists by invitation only, then I believe they should not be advertised on this cluster page for subscriptions. Several Carman researchers and hobbyists were falsely lead to believe by this page that they could subscribe. This is not the case. Recommend to avoid future problems that the links for these lists be removed from the page.

I've finally gotten a response to my question about what I've been doing wrong while trying to subscribe to two of the three email lists listed on this Cluster page.
In the military, we had a word that accompanied the word cluster. This cluster page is indeed a cluster "gathering", as are two of the lists that say "subscribe now".
Thanks to some help from a representative of Roots Web, I now finally know that two of the email lists that indicate "subscribe now" are private surname lists. Participation is by invitation only. You cannot "subscribe now", you must be invited to join by the list's owner.
Based on the posts that I've seen in the archives for these two private, invite only, lists... I'm left with the impression that the owner of these two lists has little regard for genealogy on the web, accurate sourcing of material or data, and little respect for peers. It is my impression that the owner of these two lists only uses these lists to post only what is deemed "fit" by the owner... that is, the owner's own posts. You'll find little else there besides the owner's posts.
It also appears to me, that this cluster page is a bit askew. There are four personal web sites listed relating to the Carman surname. Of the four, three of the hyperlinks go to the same location. Go figure.
I have little faith in the fact that many, if any, researchers visit this "cluster" page. Those who do should seek out other avenues of internet research. There are a number of quality web sites relating to the Carman surname. With the exception of a few of the links on this "cluster" you are sure to be broken hearted, or will be made to chase your own tail trying to figure out why you receive no indication that a subscripion request was received by either automation or the list owner of two of the three email lists mentioned on this "cluster" page.
I invite you to visit any other web resource relating to your research of the Carman surname. Feel free to drop me an email at anytime.
No request will be ignored, unless you ask me to figure out why you can't subscribe to two of the three email lists that are advertised here on this cluster. For that, you are on your own. Odds are, you were not invited. Now you have your answer.
Happy Hunting!!!

Thank you Mr. Stan Carman,
I had been wondering why my subscriptions were being ignored. I agree with you, if the Carman-L and Carman-Roots lists are private than they should not be integrated with this cluster page nor archived with Rootsweb. The idea that genealogical information can be posted but unless you have an invite, you cannot provide feedback or comment on the same forum negats the purpose of the Rootsweb List.

I just found this Carman page on RootsWeb. I subscribed to all three lists. I was immediately accepted by CARMAN-CONTACTS-L so I know I'm getting process right. But after several subscription attempts to CARMAN-L and CARMAN-ROOTS-L, I have not been subscribed and have not heard any response at all.
Is the CARMAN-CONTACTS-L mailing list the only one that works?

I must have something messed up. Each time that I try to subscribe to the email lists listed in the cluster page, nothing happens. Can the list owner help me out? PLEASE?

Open note to Rootsweb,
There has been a large division of Carman Genealogy Hobbyists and Researchers over the management of public boards and lists, such as those sponsored by Rootsweb. This controversy has blinded many and handicaps the actual use and purpose of those same boards and lists. I would strongly recommend that Rootsweb maintain control of the cluster page for the "Carman" Surname vice turning it over to a particular "Carman" Surname Genconnect Board manager or a particular list owner. Maintain the neutrality of this page and future problems can be avoided.

I surely must have something messed up. None of my subscription requests even warrant a bounce.
PLEASE help!

Just curious what the turn around time for subscription processing is for the lists advertised on this cluster page.
The cluster page says "subscribe right now", but my requests seem to be getting lost.
Thank you.

Hope to accurate validated Data be added to the Rootsweb Archives. Garbage in and Garbage out. Let's take the high road here by the standards that most Carman Researchers have set.

Another valuable Carman Resource is the Carman Meeting Place Web Site:
http://home.att.net/~Carman_Family_History/
This web site works and hand in hand with the ROOTSWEB CARMAN-CONTACTS-L Mail List as well as a Carman Discussion List CARMAN-L not to be confused with the ROOTSWEB Version.
I am research consultant for the Carman Meeting Place Web Site. Enjoy the links.
