Looking for information on the Fletcher family?
My gr,gr,gr grandfather was George W Fletcher. He
was married to Epsey Williams. He homesteaded and so
did lots of other Fletcher around 1100 acres there.
His name is on the homestead patent for Rock Sink
Missionary Baptist church. He might have been the pastor
for awhile and also taught at Red Hollow School. Can
anyone verify this and maybe tell me where his property
was located. I'm researching this side of my family and
I'm finding it interesting. His daughter Amanda married
John Marshall Womble,my great, great grandfather. He also
homesteaded 160 acres close by. Also any information John
and the Womble side of my family? This is all new to me..
Thanks Yvonne Womble

This is still the best site on Levy County. I am trying to research my Tindel/Tindell, Higginbotham, Hall connections. I would appreciate any information on Julia Anne Hall Higginbotham, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Anne Hall, wife of William Dolphus Higginbotham. Thanks.

I just found a possible distant cousin looking for info on my grandfather, Jesse Kennedy. He was married to Lula Lawrence who was daughter of Newton D. Lawrence and Clodia Simpson. I am very interested in knowing from whence Jesse Kennedy came. He settled in Levy County, Cedar Key, my dad grew up there with his other brothers, L, Ralph, Elbert, Cuthbert, and Lois. I would like any information out there about Jesse Kennedy.

Thanks so much. I am at a deadend!

Great job. Have found a great deal of info. I am researching the Tindel/Tindell and Higginbotham/Hall families. My father was Charles Franklin Tindel, son of Charles Madison Tindell and Susan Higginbotham, son of Ezekiel Tindell and Sarah Shaw (Shand), the son of Christopher Charles Tindell and Sara Unknown (2nd wife) who was married to Rachel Watford (1st wife). They migrated from SC to GA, to AL and then to FL. Any info appreciated. Again - GREAT WORK.

Very good site. Found marriage record I had looked years for: Herbert Oscean Mason to Bonie Phillips. They are buried in Mobile. Parents to Mary Ivor, Louis Whitfield, Catherine Wiinifred. But where are their parents? Is Herbert's family the one in Madison co., FL in the 1885 census, A.W. & M. E.?

If anyone else is researching this family, please feel free to email me. I have traced the family back to Germany - into at least the 1700's. Thanks again for having a great site! In 1880, he is listed in Escambia Co., FL with a different wife and a year old son. He must have lost his first family some where between 1870 and 1880 and between Levy Co. and Escambia Co.

Great website! I, too, am researching my family history and tree. I am African-American and have had a time gathering data on my maternal grandparents (and great-grandparents), who were born and/or married in Levy county. My mother and some of her siblings were also born in Levy County (Raleigh). Although, I found a map that identified Willitson which is near Raleigh, I've yet to find a map which identifies Raleigh, FL.

My mother Bernice McGriff, was born Bernice Winifred Carter in Raleigh, FL., July 4, 1918, however, she was raised in Polk County (Lake Wales). Her parents Alice and Daniel Adam Carter from what I understand were married in Levy county. Alice and her siblings, Viola and Arthur were born in Raleigh as well. Alice's mother, Parthenia was married to Ernest Martin and Arthur McGee. Parthenia's parents were George and Anna Harris.

I had difficulty accessing a number of links to Levy County on this site apparently due to technical difficulties and hoped they are resolved soon. Are there any plans to have information on African Americans births, deaths, marriages, etc. I may be wrong in assuming the information, I was able to access was probably all whites with the exception of the slave index which had no names familiar to my family history.

Again, I very much appreciate the hard work of people like yourself who provide a wealth of information for people like myself, looking to gather information on our descendants.

Another great site!I looked in the marriage records at the BERRY'S and RICHARDS,but I don't think they are mine. But I'll come back often, this is how I take my vacations. You have done a really good job,Tom.

I am looking for info on Charles and Nora (Adams)Hinson. She was a sister of my Grandfather Sidney Joseph Adams. I am trying to update my Family History and lost track with members of her family. Would appreciate hearing from any of them, as I believe some of the descendants still live there, in Levy County in the Williston area. I really enjoyed browsing your site. Very Good. Thanks.
