I've been researching the Wrights of Georgia. Abednego Wright married Elizabeth Jones in Columbia County June 19,1791. He married Susanna Gairy in 1816, who became his Widow (he died in 1824) and was named in his will. One of Abednego's children, Charity, married Thomas W. Burton in 1809 in Hancock Co. They are my direct ancestors.
The dates for the Wright-Jones marriage appear to fit the circumstances, but I have no proof. I would also like to find out more about Elizabeth Jones's family...another of Abednego's daughters married a Jones in 1813, but this might not be the same family.

I find the geneaology pages extremely helpful. On the Columbia County Geneaology page, I find the BULLDOZER to be a profound symbol, as development has so damaged the character of our county. While I realize people need jobs, places to live, places to shop & places for recreation, we also need logically planned development & are now facing the consequences of not having it. Nuff said 'bout that.
Hopefully we can have some historical preservation of what we have remaining. Even cemeteries form the 1953 county map have disappeared; a site I visited in the 1970's is gone as well: at least the tombstones are gone. People, please be respectful.
