My great, great grandfather was Joseph Gentry from Surry County NC. He was born appr.1807. Married Sarah Fulks (Carroll Co, VA) 1860. Brother James. Looking for parents information. Have found -0-.

MY GRANDFATHER WAS FROM WHITE BLUFFS TENNESEE, AND CAME DOWN TO FLORIDA IN THE EARLY 1900's. HE DIED IN 1956 WHEN I WAS 1 YEAR OLD.HIS NAME WAS GEORGE J. GENTRY. NOW THAT I HAVE BECOME INTERESTED IN MY FAMILY'S HISTORY THERE IS NO ONE TO POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND I AM STARTING FROM SCRATCH. ANY HELP ANYONE COULD GIVE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

My mother is Margaret Marie Gentry Boone, born 15APR1922 in either Fall Branch TN or Marshall, NC and resided there until her father, MITCHELL LOGAN GENTRY was shot around 1929. His wife, Laura Mae (or May) Connelly had three other children (my mother is oldest) next was Susan Elizabeth Gentry (Vuncannon) d. 1989 in Rockingham, NC; Alice Fay Gentry (single) d. 1955 Chicago, IL; youngest was Harvey Logan Gentry d. 1995 (approx) in Maine. (he was a resident of Concord, CA but died on a vacation).
Mitchell Logan Gentry was an Oddfellow member and upon his death, my grandmother was able to send the children to GOldsboro, NC Oddfellows Home where they were raised. Marie Gentry, upon graduation, left the home and went to Spruce Pine, NC, married Roy Howard Boone in 1946.
If anyone has any information at all, please contact me directly through my E-mail (mater@gater.net). At almost 78, my mother does not believe the miracles of internet and I would love to give her her family's information which she has never really known.
