On my mother's paternal side, we have (great-grandfather)William Elroy Giffin, born in 1878, lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, died in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California in 1952. He married a Essa Mable Duncan, born in 1881, married in Lincoln, Nebraska and traveled with their two children, (grandfather)Elroy Purl Giffin and Katherine Elbin (Nona) Giffin, on the last wagon train to California. She died in 1961, San Pedro, California. She may have been related to the Dalton and the Younger Brothers, and to Sir Robert Burns of Scotland. Katherine Giffin first married Frances (Frank) Masterson Sr., and Elroy Giffin married Rosamond Margaret Breck of Santa Barbara, California. Her family dates back to the House of Stewart, the HMS Bounty, many of the early Spanish Californian families (1769~1782), and the Winthrop Society of Boston, Massachusetts in the 1630s.
