RootswEB IS GREAT. fINALLY HAVE COMPUTER. Have been searching for Gilbert connections to Ebenezer Gilbert, b 1772, N.C. Marrying and living in Wilson Co., Tenn. Son, John Fletcher Gilbert & Wife Sarah (maiden name Davis) moved from Wilson Co., Tenn. to Powers, Arkansas. They had a son named John Fletcher Gilbert, who had 3 wives, and several children, all raised in Arkansas, Hempstead County. My grandmother Emma R edelia Gilbert married Jefferson Davis Coleman (his mother Lucy lived with them) Their marriage date Dec. 6, 1887, Miller County, Ark. Thomas B. Coleman b. Nov 2, 1833 was Jefferson Davis Coleman's father, known to have lived in N.C. and Virginia. Thomas Coleman remarried, and one of Jefferson Davis Coleman's brothers came to visit him in Ark. Mrs. Ida Spicer, Texarkans, Tx. and Mrs. Lula Johnson, Waco, Tx. were Jefferson Davis Coleman's surviving sisters. Either a great grandfather Coleman or Gilbert lost a leg in Civil War according to family. Need family contacts. THANKS.

Rootsweb is so helpful. Thank You. My mothers father, (my grandfather ) was Henry Gilbert, born in Ontario Canada, his father was Wilhelm Gilbert..born in Wallesdorf (Germany), Grand Duchy of Hessen, he came to Canada in 1855. I haven't found a direct lead but am sure that something will come up. Thanks again for the great service you are providing.
