My name is Richard Alan Griffin born in Oakland Ca. in 1954 son of Ambrose Edward Griffin born in Portland Or. in 1926. My Grand Father was David Edward Griffin born around 1884. My Great Grand Father was Joseph Griffin and maybe changed the name from Griffith or Griffs or Griffng, I believe he came from Ireland (Clare County) and was kidnapped to work on a ship. I have been told he got away somewhere in South America and made his way to the States. All of my relatives are dead so most of this information was told to me when I was a child. I am interested in finding out about where my name and family came from any help would be helpful.

It appears that you have a great vehicle for researching surnames!? A friend told me about the Resource Page, today. I have registered most of my surnames, with some diffculty. First, I had trouble finding the place to register. Then, after I register, I go looking for others who might have registered and I find that I am the only one registered? Could it be the way it is in getting in that people have not registered? It is strange that I have been researching for over two years, on the Net, and have seen RootsWeb many times; have tried to research using RootsWeb, but no favorable results. I sure hope that this link will help me close some of the missing links in my genealogy research! But, people have got to find my posts.
