John (1784)and Sarah (1788)Hurd came from Somersetshire prior to 1845
to Erin, Wellington Co., Ontario, Canada. They had three known
children that came with them, John (m. Jane McCune) George
(m. Elizabeth Berr) and my Gr Gr Grandmother Elizabeth born 1820
m. to William Riles and later to George Mason. Elizabeth and
George went to Reinbeck, Iowa. One of George's son's went to
Cayuga Co, New York. This was Samuel and he went about 1880.
Elizabeth's son John Riles also lived in New York before going to
Dane Co. Wisconsin. I would love to hear from any Hurds that
came from Somersetshire in the early to mid 1800's. They were
not from the New England Hurd's that came in the 1600's.
