My father, Wm. Clifford Reynolds, lived, at the turn of the century, in what was then known as Horse Prairie, just north of Sesser. His father, Wm. Buchanan Reynolds, was a farmer, very poor, who had come from Chattanooga, TN, about 1893, or so, lived first in Jefferson Co., and eventually moved back there, living around Scheller, Waltonville, and finally in Mt. Vernon until his death. My father was a mail carrier out of Scheller for almost 30 years, retired in 1949, and moved to Greenville, in Bond County. Dad's last mail route "cornered" at Sesser, and Doc Huie (sp?) did most of the work on his automobiles. I began my work career at the Kroger Store in Sesser in the summer of 1946, while we were living about 2 miles west of Sesser, near the Lovelady farm. I now live in Florida. Been here for 48 years! My heart still holds fond memories of Southern Illinois!
