Just saying thanks. I've been searching for my family for about two years. Thanks to sites like RootsWeb I can do so much research and learn so much about my family history. I can bring those old family photographs to life by the research materials I have used. I understand more fully, how they must have lived, loved and died. Having resources available to me online and free is one of my greatest pleasures.
Recently I found my brother in sister listed in the 1930 census living an orphanage where they lived in, after the death of their mother. Information I knew about, but didn't know where the orphanage was.
A couple of weeks ago, while researching, I found them. These two very young children, three and five years old, and listed as "inmates", placed in this orphanage by a father who didn't feel he could take care of two small children alone. Thankfully, later, these two were taken from the orpanage by another family member. They both became succesful people and were lovingly re-united with our father for many years before he died.
I've discovered just how much genealogy resources are available, and look forward to finding new information that RootsWeb places online for our use.
Thank you,R Wolff
