This is a truly sorry site. Items that are supposed to pertain to Kansas, like Kansas Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates all point to Ancestry.com where a person has to root through dozens and dozens of names from other states only to find they must be a member of Ancestry.com for an enormous amount of money to find the information they hope for. The same with the Census information one is lead to believe you might find.
All this site is a front for Ancestry.com. Not all researchers have big bucks and sadly, Ancestry. com charges for a lot of data that can be found for free on the Internet. For instances, the list of WWI Soldiers from Kansas is on the Internet, so is the California Death Index from 1940 to 1997, for free. Ancestry.com won't tell you that. This site even sends you to a site that wants to charge you for information about sex offenders. I don't know about Kansas, but in California you can at least get a map of your neighborhood with pins on it so you can see how close one might live to you. Then you can go to the police station to find more information. There was no way to check out this pay site Crawford County's site sends you to.
