I have enjoyed my novice efforts at RootsWeb but I don't really understand some of the language. When I was researching my screen showed the message: "Connection Timed Out" what does it mean? Is it the RootsWeb program or my own computer? This is a fun project but difficult to find any information on my grandfather, Joseph Frank LaValley, born in Vergennes, Vermont in late 1800's because the town hall burned down destroyed records. Any other place I can look? I can't seem to get into military records without spending a fortune. Thanks for being there for all those of us who are interested in our roots. Pauline
