researching robert mahan family of iowa. came to iowa city in 1855 and lived there until his death in 1885. married to mary and children....James, Mary, Maggie, John, and Frances, all born in Johnson County. After Robert's death his wife Mary took in a child...Richard Lloyd, called Robert Lloyd Mahan, on June 26, 1888. also had a gentleman living in the home named Richard O'Connor who was 65 in 1885. he was born in Ireland and was a widow.
Robert was also from Ireland and arrived in America in 1844. i am not sure where he resided before moving to Johnson Co. in 1855.

Researching Patrick Mahan - according to family lore was born in Co. Kildare Ireland about 1825. Came to America in about 1830. Settled in Iowa in the Johnson and Iowa Co. areas.
