I am searching for information about my maternal grandfather John Belosky. He was from Czechoslovakia, he left before WW1 and came to the USA. He lived in Mt. Clements, Michigan. He and his wife had six children. He was a catholic. He worked in a factory and made ladders. He remarried and later died in 1969 of a heart attack. If anyone has information that would help my search, please email. His last name may have been spelled differently before entering this country.

This like all the rest of Rootsweb sites are outstanding. I have a question which might not be revelant here but, I would like to ask it anyway. Today, I read in our daily paper "The Muskogee Daily Phoenix" about the Detroit Historical Museum on 1 Jan 2001 they opened the time capsule from 1901 which included wishes and prophesies of the then (1901) Mayor William C. Maybury and other prominent citizens. What got my attention is the Mayor W. C. Maybury (Mayberry) as sometimes spelled also. I have been looking for descendants of a William Mayberry who was a brother of my ggggrandfather George Mayberry both were artificers or persons skilled in the art of refining Iron. George Mayberry built the Columbia Furnace on Stoney Creek near Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., Va., in 1803. My William Mayberry (sometimes spelled Maybury) was a veteran of the Revolution serving as an instructor on board a Flotilla on the Delaware River. William instructed, trained others in the use of Cannon which he proclaimed to be an artificer of Iron and had produced Cannon and Artillery pieces for the Continental Army, also another Thomas Mayberry was also a supplier of Iron products to the Continental Army, I don't know if they were related but, it is interesting that three by the same surname were in the same business, about the same general area and time. However, due to sometimes lax record keeping it is very hard to trace information and keep it in perspective over periods of time, especially for an inexperienced genealogist and historical researcher as I am on my family surname. I need all the help I can get. My question is can someone email me some history or background on the Mayor William C. Maybury on or about Jan 1901. Who his parents were, where they were from and where they have lived. I hope I am not being too daring on this request. My email is: rambo1@oknet1.net
USPS address: 318 North 'G' Street

Thanks, for any help, Bye

My greatgrandfather Henry Charles Hahn was a Detroit pioneer baker owning and operating the Hahn Bakery at 55 Jefferson Street which I believe is the site of the current civic center. He operated the bakery there from about 1859 to the mid 1880's when it was sold to his son-in-law John Henry Weber. I enjoyed the Wayne County site.
