Name: Calvin Branche <cbranche@earthlink.net> Date: 2003-06-08 Comments:
I am starting a web page devoted to the Branche family, beginning with Jean Louis Branche (name changed to John Branche, probably because of a spelling error) and his son, Simeon, both of whom emigrated from Rosieres, France, to the French Settlement just outside Cape Vincent, in 1829.
Living in Florida it may be difficult, beyond some research my brother and I did many years ago, to gather information, but we will give it a try.
I will have copies of the naturalization papers for both Jean and Simeon, and pictures of Rosieres, France, which both my brother and I have visited.

I do not like the message boards; they are too broad and when you do a search it shows over 2000 selections of which only 10 or so relate.

My sister and I tried looking for family a couple of years ago for a paper she had to do for College. It didn't go to well. I have no idea about my Dad's side of the family other than my Dad (Howard Wheeler 1919 to 1972) was born in Adams and has a sister named Alice. I know Dad had brothers as well b/c my older bro told me there were about 4. My Mom refuses to talk .I was told (my bro again) that Alice lives right in Adams Center but no last name. So far records dont show much so if anyone knows any Wheelers, feel free to e-mail me...

How far back do the records of this society go. I am tracing my family and have hit a wall at around 1860. I know them to have lived in the Watertown area around that time and perhaps before. Benjamin Barnes was known to be an M.E. minister in that vicinity. Thanks for any help.
