Rootsweb site is awesome with lots of info for the rookie genealist and the home site is the most database to take note and use it to the most. This website was very very helpful on my family roots. I am very grateful for all the volunteers and their assistance provided.

I am trying to research my grandfather but don't have much info. I only have the county, his name and that of my grandmother and that he farmed in the early to mid 1900's. Some family is still in the area but I only know last names. Can you help?

GF name was William Bell, m. to Dora Lee/Mae Russell (sp?) my father, the eldest surviving child, born 12/1915. Dora died around 1930 and sometime after WW2 William moved to NYC. We had someone fight in TX war for independance and he is the one who moved to TX after the Civil War.

Although I have not spent much time in Texas, parts of my family fought in the War of Independence and the Mexican-American War. A Tollett ancester was killed in the War of Independence and My GGGrand Father fought in the Mexican War and was killed in the Civil War in 1862 at the Pararie Grove Battle in Arkansas. I am a Member of the " Sons of the American Revolution". I appreciate your web pages and know the work that goes into them. Any thing we can do to keep our past alive is a worthey cause. Thanks Much
