Just found your site, it is great, there is so many things to check out, it" taking me a long time.I am looking for a story that was in our Richmond newspaper Sept.29,1999 about Fred Lawson a former worker at Merrimac coal mines, he said was booming in the '20's To help Montgomery counties people to remember the area's coal legacy and the Merrimac community. I understand the county officials were planning to build a Coal Miners Hertiage Park where the mines once stood.Creating a historial park on 30 acre site to keep it from being developed, to preserve Huckleberry Trail. The coal camp strddles the trail. They are working to preserve the minning legacy of Montgomery and Pulaski county, I woud like more info if someone could help me on this. Thanks Mew.

I love Rootsweb. It is a very important genealogy source. I have found much to help me with research but not everything I need. Genealogy work requires digging in courthouses, graveyards, libraries, family talks and other sources too. But you are a start to help.
I am looking for anyone researching the Cundiff family in Montg.Co., Va. If you are out there let me know. I need help with gaps in my grandmother's family.
Thanks,
Linda Hall
