I am a direct descendant of Thomas Seagroatt, the boatman who came to Flushing, NY in around 1879. He and his wife, Ann, are buried in Zion Episcopal Church, Douglaston, NY. I have a great deal of family information re: the Seagroatts. My father, George, was one of his grandsons.

Thanks to your assiduous research and the Segrott web site I have now traced our branch of the family back to Arnold Segrott of Ousden, interestingly I read the correspondence concerning the will of Anthony Gosnold and the involvement of Rodger Segrodt of Cowling in 1639 and am now looking for the connection with Arnold

I am amazed at the wealth of information on your site. I am the granddaughter of Henry Joseph Seagroatt born 1st September 1880. He died September 1950 at 24 First Avenue, Manor Park (East Ham) and was buried at Wanstead Cemetary. His wife was Florrie Martha Clark. They had five children, Joseph, Frederick (my father), Henry, Mary and Arthur. I am an only child, but Joseph had one son Laurence, Henry had two, Alan and Janet, Mary (Lickfold) had three, Sheila, James and Gillian and Arthur had four, Pauline, Marilyn, Joseph and David. I have one son, Neale
Graham Safaty, one daughter Patricia Betty Safaty.
I think I am a direct descendant of Roger Seagroatt (1744).

It was helpful to see what you have included in this website before considering what I start to try to create one for my surname study. As an aside, some of the variants/mistranscriptions of SEAGROTT and SADGROVE must be quite close. I found over 60 different attempts at my surname in the six censuses on Ancestry!
