I have your website tagged as a favorite. I appreciate all the work you have done and your sharing it with others. We are related, with Lemuel Robertson as a common ancestor.

In reviewing your tree, I have noticed a few discrepancies or questionable items. Would you mind if I brought these to your attention? I would also be happy to share any information that I have with you.

Hi, I adapted the 'Your name' poem for gender neutrality.

The First Gift

The first gift from your parents,
Was all they had to give,
Now itís yours to use and cherish,
For as long as you may live.
Other gifts they gave you,
Can always be replaced,
But a black mark on your name,
Is not easily erased.
It was clean the day you took it,
A worthy name to bare,
It was brought to you with honor,
Now this gift is yours to share.
So be sure you guard it wisely,
After all is said and done,
You'll be glad the name is spotless,
When itís time to pass it on.

I looked at the comments going back to 2003 and it appears this is the first inquiry on Lelia Dean Swift. Any idea where she was from or who her parents are? There is bound to be a relation to Dean and Tate somewhere along the way. Thanks

Most of the early data came from you research, thank you!

My great grandfather was a Faulkner so that's how I found you. Unfortunately we are not kin. Just wanted to say that I love the poem on your home page. It hit home for me. I often visit an old cemetery where members of my husband's family are buried. I can never leave without spending a couple of minutes with Henry Bedsole who died in 1807. His stone is worn and stands by itself. There is something special about those minutes and your poem says it all!

My name is Lila Mae Faulkner Allen. I am trying to find out the father of John Falkner (born circa 1788) in SC. He was a bridge builder and in his will dated 1852 he lists his wife, Theodicy, sons, James, Chesly, William Jefferson, daughters, Sara and Mary and grandson, John Falkner and granddaughter, Vicey Jane Shaver. Most of his family moved to land inherited from their father located in Pike County, AL. Chesly left Alabama and moved to Florida (where he fought in Civil War) and then ended up in GA where he died. James died during the Civil War and is buried in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL. William Jefferson never married and is buried in Mt. Hillard Methodist Cemetery in the community of High Ridge (Pike County AL ....now Bullock County AL) not far from where I grew up. My email address is donallenfamily@aol.com if you have any information that could help. Thanks!

Thought I would comment on my ELY connection. I am great-great granddau of Martha Unice Ely and Bonham Harvey Fox (in your files) I have been working on my family history for many years but still do not have a clear cut proven record of her father William M Ely being the same William Mark Ely son of Isaac and Catherine. Keep hoping to find the proven record of this connection. Meanwhile I do show him as the same person due to time and location of my William in TN.

If anyone finds such proof please let me hear from you. Thanks!

I see you have my great grandparents.....William Greenlee and Annis Virginia Tritt Parsons. Although I was too young to remember great grandaddy "Green" Parsons I was old enough to remember grandma "Jenny" Parsons and I remember going to her funeral when she died in 1968. Through them I have connections to the Parsons, Tritts, Leggs, Ely's, Thorpe's and Thompsons all of whom are connected to your lines. I would be glad to hear from anyone connected with these families.

Hello, I searched for Hannah Crutchfield and found your Ancestry.com tree online. I descend from the Whitehead line that Hannah's mother is from. Her mother was Providence Whitehead Crutchfield. Her father John Crutchfield. Sometimes spelled as Critchfield. Providence had a brother RObert Whitehead who served in Rev War with Geo Rogers Clark's IL Regiment. Have you seen indenturement papers for Providence, Elizabeth & Robert Whitehead in 1773, Surry Co., NC? I believe they were siblings as they were indentured same day. I will share any Whitehead info I have. I am trying to prove Robert Whitehead is my GGGGG grandfather. He was born abt 1761 (prob NC?) and died in Putnam Co., IN 1852. My Whiteheads (later spelled Whited/Whitted) stayed in Claiborne Co. then Union Co., Tn for several years. My GG grandfather Sylvester Whitted settled in Putnam Co., IN in mid 1860's after serving in civil war for the UNION. I have two emails I use mostly now this one: genfunn5505@sbcglobal.net Mary Lou Hazelrigg, Indpls.

I am Matilda's and James Long Cupp great granddaughter, my grandmother is Maggie Cupp/Bowen married to Joseph Lloyd Bowen. I think Maggie (Mary Magdeline)Cupp was James and Matlida's eldest child of 4 or 5 children. I'm sure you know but I just found out Matilda and Hester's Father was Speedwell Powers and mother was Sarah or Sara, Sarah or Sara then married a Jones. Hester is my 1/2 great grandmother. So we must be cousin's somewhere down the line, I'm in contact with Moscella Cupp/Stump often and have attended 2 of the annual family reunions.

I found your page while researching Joseph E. Rankin who married Frances Angelina Lawhon in Bastrop county, TX about 1855. Still have not found that elusive character, but I notice your Lawhons lived in the same counties in Tennessee as the Rankins. Still don't know who Joseph's father eas. Joseph disappeared about 1857 without a trace. Family lore has it that he was killed by Indians while enroute to Burnet County to perform a marriage ceremony. Frances Lawhon Rankin died in Bastrop County and I have a copy of her obituary which appeared in the Texas Christian Advocate. If you are interested, I will send it to you.

Hello Jack and Julie,

I never realized this was a link on your email. I took a peek at it and was amazed by all of the imformation you have about your family. I cannot believe how far back you were able to go.

My mind is overwhelmed by how much time and effort it must have took to do all of the research. I don't seem to have the mind for finding my roots, it is a tangled mess, and I give up too easily. I will look into it someday when I have more time for the work. I think I had shared with you the indian part of my heritage that makes it more work than I am able to give my attention to.

Anyway, I really enjoyed all that you put together and appreciate your sharing. It is inspiring.

Peace,
Amy

Also through Mason Greenleaf through Andrew J Poore-Cora Poore Carman-Kenneth Carman-Me. I am a decendant through both my father and mother. I have a few pictures also if you are interested in those. Thanks for any information you can provide.
Mildred 'Toots' Poore was my grandmother's 1st cousin. She raised 'Lee Majors'after his parents were killed in an accident. Her husband was a brother to Lee's father, so he isn't a blood relative but I tell everyone I am related to him anyway!

Hello,

I am Carol Lee (Hogan) Otto. I live in Virginia Beach, VA.

I'm very interested in any information concerning Hardin Smith (rootsweb ID I11044), b. abt 1840, of Carter Co. and Johnson Co. TN, and his daughter Nancy, b. abt 1865 according to your rootsweb entry. This would make her the same age as her brother Nathan. Nathan shows up in 1870 census but Nancy does not. Nancy , who is listed as a June 1863 birth in the 1900 census, is the mother of Dee Barlow who I think was born Hardin Hodge. There's some information in a family bible and jctcuzins.com web site that suggest Nancy was married to a Hodge from the mid-1880s to late 1890s. This Hodge, as the story goes, deserted the family. Dee's stepfather was George W. Barlow who was born in Canada and came to TN sometime after his childhood in the region of North Dakota. George married Nancy in the very late 1890s. The "Hodge" kids used the Barlow name. Dee or D Barlow, as he was known, was killed in a factory explosion September, 1923, in Pulaski, VA. The newspaper article on the second day called him Daniel, but that is the only indication I have that Daniel was part of his name.

I am Dee's grandniece by marriage. At this time, I want to learn more about Nancy's mother, Sarah Adeline Parker; Nancy's first husband, the unknown Hodge; and Hardin's parents, Absolum and Susannah (Hurley) Smith.

In addition to my own interest, I am helping Dee's grandson, John Barlow--who still lives in Pulaski, Va--to learn more about his grandfather's family. I am also helping Dee's daughter-in-law, Ethel Barlow, who is 85 years old and frail. So far, I have not told John that his granfather's birth name may be Hodge instead of Barlow.

Your rootsweb entries seem to have the most information on Hardin Smith.

Thank You, Carol

Hello,
We are researching the Hundley / Hunley name as down from Wm. & Patsey Cooper Hunley mar. in Grainger Co. 1805. They had 7 children to which we come down from Benjamin mar. to Lucinda Toliver, Jan. 1841 to son, Jordan mar. to Martha Elizabeth Norton in Ky. The Hunley family was living in Union Co. by 1860 due to change of county line drawn and then moved to Goin area of Claiborne Co. by 1880.
Jordan had one son named Faulkner and it just doesn't fit into the family that we can find... any thoughts as to a surname that you may know of from your research that may have connected with any of our names?
Thanks,
Ruth & Nelson

An interesting site! - For the record, the Herefordshire Moneys can trace the name back no further than 1723 when a certain Francis Money of Wellingborough married the heiress Elizabeth Washbourne. Family tradition has it that Francis was a French refugee.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Money,
Accessed your site from rootsweb as I was looking for my ancestor, Elisha Miller Robinson. I am Elisha Miller Robinson, Jr., MD's great-granddaughter. His daughter Marion Robinson Banks was my grandmother as my father was her son. He was married to Leila Wetona Prince, my great-grandmother. I had started off searching for my Prince relatives and then I went into my Robinson relatives. I have a cousin who has done quite a bit of research into the family. Would love to hear from you, please email.

Dear Mr. Money:
I just today came across your website and found it great. I was very excited to see the Lynch data.
George and Eliza Lynch were my 3rd gr-grandparents, their dau. Alice Ann ,married my gr-gr-grandfather George Hill.
I have both families in the 1840 Beaver County, Pa. census and that was all I have been able to do on the Lynch family.
Both Geo. Hill and his father in law George Lynch had land on the Blue Ridge in the 1820 Loudoun County tax records.
I was never able to find a deed for them, just the tax reference.
I always assumed Geo. and Eliza Lynch died in Beaver County but looks like the wife at least ended up in Tenn..
Was also interested in that you had the middle name of Anderson for George, is there a family Bible in existence for them?
I would certainly appreciate anything else that you might have on the Lynch family.

and believe we surely have a connection. I am told your William Harris is a brother to my ggg grandmother Sena Harris of Lee County Va. I hit a block wall with James Harris in the Lee County Virginia census of 1850. I am also trying to find the connection of my Catherine and Mary Ingle to John Ingle. My Catherine Ingle maried George Thomas and they are also in the 1850 Lee County census and Mary Ingle is in the household believed to be mother of Catherine. Any comments or help appreciated.

Dear Jack,
I am Elizabeth Jane Money's great granddaughter. Thank you for the extensive research on the Money family. The lineage is incredibly interesting. It is wonderful to find the history of a family that I never knew about. You have compiled and summarized years of records that our family had thought only existed in a handwritten family bible from Wilkes County. Thank you.
Warmest Regards,
Jennifer Adams

I believe there are two areas you may need to re-look.
1. A record from Franklin County states that Pernita Money (nee Wilson) (my note: daughter of George and Rebecca (Camp) Wilson) died leaving 2 heirs...W.J. Wilson...Martha S. Payne (nee Wilson). A suit was filed W.J. Wilson vs. J.J. Money. I have located a marriage record for Pameta C. Wilson to Joseph L. Money on 21 Sep 1860 in Jackson Co, AL. I believe the Joseph L. Money, b. 10 Jun 1839 in Jackson Co, AL, you show married to Lucy Payne in 1880, was first married to Pernita Wilson before she died. He would have been 41 years old when he married Lucy and most men didn't wait until that long for a first marriage.
2. You show Rody Money, born 1835, son of Jacob Jewel Money. I think there is a possibility Rody is a female rather than a male. You show no further record of this Rody. I have a marriage for Carroll Wilson, b. 1826, son of George and Rebecca Wilson, to Rhoda Ann Money, born in 1835, in Alabama. The marriage was in 1853 in Jackson County, AL.
Do you have any ideas on these two subjects. Thanks much, Mary Griggs

We are researching our family tree. Any info you may have on William Mosley born: 04-25-77 at Hindmand, Knott, KY who married Martha Miller born: Nov 1881 at Jackson, KY. They were married around 1898. Had children Abba Mosley (married Estel Combs), Kelce Mosley (born: Sept 22, 1899 or also maybe Aprill 1900) and Caleb Mosley born 1902). Martha Miller parents are Hiram Miller & Mary. They are supposedly Cherokee Indians.

My grandmother was Lue Ola Porter b. 18 October 1891 in Arkansas daughter of Samuel and Fannie Porter. She died 29 June 1971 in Coffeyville, Kansas. While researching an ancestor on FamilySearch.org, I came across your name as a contributor to some of the research. Can you tell me how you are related to Nehemiah Phillips or his wife, Mary Jane Nicholson? They were the parents of my great-great-grandmother, Sarah Catherine Phillips Horne. Do you have any further information on either Nehemiah or Mary Jane? Catherine used to tell my grandfather about being raised by two maiden aunts and an uncle after the death of her mother. Her father left her and moved away. Anything would be useful.

My great-grandmother was Miss Letia Cumile Reams. She married Dr. William David Laswell in Rockcastle County Kentucky in 1899. These are fact that I am absolutely sure of.

I am told that her father was George Reams. He was a farmer and blacksmith in Trenton Missouri. The only information I have on her mother is the name "Hicky".

In my research I found George Reams and Eliza Hickey who had a daughter name Camille Reams, the wife of Albert McNew. This cannot be my great-grandmother unless there is an error somewhere.

I am trying to find out if I am actually a descendant of the Cherokee Indians through Cumille Reams.

They are both buried in Putnam Co.IN.According to your Records Marys parents are Laban Edwards? Is this right?

I have looked for quite a long time to find out who her parents were.As you know Edwards is a very common name.

Thank you for your research. It is wonderful to find new information.

The County I live in Carroll County IN. There are many families that are from Claiborne Co.TN. But they came to this area in the 1940s or early 1950s.

Do you have any copies of Deeds or Wills for these families?

Thank you again for putting the Edwards family information

Was fascinated to discover that there is/was a town called Harrogate in Tennessee. No doubt the name comes from Harrogate, North Yorkshire in England, a beautiful spa town where I lived for some years. Charles Dickens said of Harrogate (North Yorks): '.. the queerest place, with the strangest people in it, leading the oddest lives.'

I am sure that this is not the case in Tennessee!

Hi Jack and Julia,
It is nice to see all the lines on one site. Would it be possible to post with the information that I have contributed (the Lawrence Sanders Browder on down)with my url so other cousins can contact me and know that I have digital images of the original documents on my web page to share?

I know this must of been an oversite my url is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~coxcuz/

I also have the original documents on the Rollo/Mixon/Browder lines of South Carolina and some headstone photos. I will be visiting Marlboro, SC this week to collect more and they will be up on the Godbold page in the very near future. We encourage all cousins to download the images but please site your source.

I do hope that any cousins who connect to my direct line will contact me I am more than happy to share all documents that support mine and others research all sited on our web page. If you also wish to share documents please contact us.
Have a great day

Great page!! My grandfather was Willie Cicero Money (born 12/17/1893, died - 04/09/1972). He was born in Wilkes County, NC - but I cannot trace him. I understand from my mother, Myrl Money Ray, that he was raised by his grandparents. He left Wilkes County, married Maidie Helen Spivey and lived many years in Roseboro, NC before moving to Fayetteville, NC. Willie C. & Maidie Money had 7 children. Sanford, Lester, Alvin, Edith A., Ottie, Myrl & Marie Money.

Jack,
It just dawned on me that my greatgrandmother Florence Dixon Bussell Money is probabaly related to you. I have a clipping form the "Three States Newspaper", Middlesboro, Ky., dated Thursday, January, 14, 1954. It is a photo of Mrs. Florence Money of Tipprell, Tn being honored on her 75th birthday at the home of her daughter, Rosa A. Russell. It lists several guests including Mr. and Mrs. Ed Money and others you may recognize. It didn't even occur to me until I saw a message regarding Tipprell. I don't know if you'd be interested or not about a copy but you could let my know.

Howdy, I've come to the conclusion that either you know an awful lot about my family or we are family. I think it's the latter of the two. First of all, I'll tell you I live in the mountains of southwest Virginia. I was born in Lee County and now live in Wise County. I have lots of people in Claiborne, Hancock, and Hawkins. So while I've been doing some digging lately, your site has popped up several times. I thought I'd just come to the source.
I am working on Elizabeth Thorp b. March 23, 1785 in Franklin Co, VA. and her husband William Thompson b. July 15, 1785 in Montgomery Co, VA. I can't seem to get any further on either one of their families. I've worked several times and then went on to something else.
Other names I'm working on are Daugherty, Robinson, Burk, Johnson, Fisher, Riddle, Wallen/Walling and connecting families just to name a few.
I'm not asking you to give me my family tree back to Adam all tied up in a ribbon even though it might sound that way (Ha!). But any little nudges would be appreciated and I'd gladly share any information I have with you.

Thanks,
Susan Johnson Burgin

Dear Mr. Jack Money,
In utilizing FamilySearch on the web, I discovered your name in connection with a James Blansett borned about 1805 and dying about 1870 who married a Mary Polly A. Burchfield on 12 Mar 1827 in Stokes County, NC. I believe Stokes County is close to Virginia, specifically, Patrick County in what is now West Virginia. I am researching for information on a Ephraim H. Blansett who was born about 1812 in Patrick, Va and died 29 Oct 1882 in St. Clari, Smyth, Va. Married a Rohad Jane Nichols who was borned about 1819 in Withams, Accomack, Va. Ephraim's father is reported to be William Ephraim Blansett borned about 1786 in Patrick, Va. As the names are close in area, I thought you might be able to assist me in obtaining more family information of that area and time. Looking forwarded to any response and information that you may have.
Sincerely,
James K. Blanscett

Dear Mr. Money,
I found your name on FamilySearch.com as a submitter for Tsarina Alexandra Fedorovna & Tsar Nicholas II. I know that the Tsarina was a grandaughter of Queen Victoria's. I have been reading the book "The Lost World of Nicholas & Alexandra, TSAR" by Peter Kurth. There is a reference on page 25 for a photo of Nicholas II & George V. It refers to them as "near identical cousins" and the resemblance is uncanny. They could be twins. I have tried to find the blood connection between the two monarchs but have not had any luck. There is also a reference that Alexandra & Nicholas are 2nd cousins. Do you have any information that could help me? Thanks, Tonya Christoffersen

Dear Jack,

Can you help me resolve some conflicting information?
I found your posting on familysearch re: Benjamin Chance and Rachel Sharpless. Have been corresponding with several folks, all having differing data as to a Benjamin Chance in PA, b. 1753, who my records (I have my grandmother, Hilda Chance's book) show married a Jane Howard in 1773. This Benjamin was son of Samuel & Rebecca Chance.
Another Benjamin Chance born 1742 in NC also gets credit for marrying Rachel Sharpless in differing places; Hilda's work indicates this Benjamin married first a Ruth Edwards, then Rachel Radd, and had a son Ezekiel. Hilda said the Sharpless historians had told her that reports of Rachel Sharpless marrying Benjamin Chance were groundless. However....last night someone wrote that she corresponds with a lady living on Ezekiel's family farm, where he is buried, having died 12/10/1798, and that Rachel Sharpless Chance and Elizabeth Grimes, Ezekiel's wife, are both buried at Grimes-Neely Cemetery in Jersey CO., IL. I haven't seen any cememtery records or headstone transcriptions yet, but wonder if you can clarify any of this for me.

Thanks!

Karen

My uncles names are Kenneth, Mack, George (Wayne) (they live in T.Ville) James Loise, Fred Louis whom they call Big Boy and Guy Eagle. Granddaddy's generation is lost to me. Can you help me find them? Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, Sheila (sfbragg@yahoo.com)

Thanks so much for responding to my query regarding Hepsey Money on the Money List. This is the first time I have really looked for information on her, I have been busy on other lines and the male ancestors are so much easier to track. I am just amazed to put in my query and get such a wonderful response so quickly. Again thanks so much. Mona

Jack,
I got copies of original land patents in Missouri. Jacob A. Fortner gave his middle initial as J. Also he married Sarah Jane Haney/Haynie not Haynes. I would make the correction, but this is your tree and hopefully you will make them. Jacob & Sarah's granddaughter, JoAn

Many thanks for all the time you have put into the ancestral files. I'm brand new to this (like 3 weeks) and am compiling the Orr history from my perspective. Question: On your file ID I03559 - Alexander Orr (1757-1832) married to Margaret Ramsey list Alexander's father as James Patrick Orr. Another pedigree I found list Arthur "The Elder" Orr (Born abt. 1721 and Died about 1808 as Alexander's father. Could you help me clarify?
Thanks, in advance, and Happy Holidays
