Hi, I was sufing the internet about an abandoned house in Cornwall (Inverarden House) and saw the info that it used to be a museum and it stopped the public from seeing it in the year 2000. Alas, I really would have liked to see the inside of that house. I love centennial houses. Would you have a website where I could find pictures taken inside this house? Thank you.

Just starting to research the family of Joseph Ligue,Logue in U.S. which appears to be Lague, Lagwee, in Canada.
Joseph Lague was lived in Stomont, Osnabruck in 1851 Census as son of Dominick and Mary. He did not appear in 1861 because he had immigrated to Chicago.
Looking forward to exploring your site further and visiting the area in the near future.

Their children: Morris, Bertha, Arthur (Art) Orville (Orvey), Grace, Florence May (Flocey), Riley & Dorah all born between 1898 & 1910. Florence May Roach (also spelled Flocey)dob 1908, married William James Jodoin (misspelled Jodan on Ancestry) of Williamstown on Oct 3, 1927 witnessed by her brother Orville. The Jodoin family believe Marguerite was a Native Indian, but despite months of research, we can't find any evidence. If anyone knows this Cornwall family any information about Marguerite is very much appreciated. Great Website!

I have just developed an interest in my ancestry and have had some early success tracing my relatives. We have a large concentration of relations who settled in the Stormont, Dundas area. I am hoping to develop a tour route for other members of our family to explore some of our early history in Canada. The most direct links are to Joseph Bedstead (Beckstead) and his wife Catherine Heverly as well as Richard Dietrich Loucks and Dorothea Fox. There are branches that go into Dafoe, Empey, Casselman, and Ault Families - also early settlers. Hoping to visit in person next summer

Ontario began civil death registration in 1869, so you will have to look at church registers in those areas. Many of these church registers are not published and must be viewed at the church itself or a parish depository. A first step would be to know the religious affiliation of your ancestor at that time by looking at census records.

I was born in Osnabruck Township/Stormont County on March 16th, 1937. Father's name was Albert von Gunten. Mother's name was Olga Frieda von Gunten (nee Haueter). My father was a farmer and moved around Ontario quite a bit. My sister, Grace Olga Ingraham (nee von Gunten) was born across the road from where I was born. My brother Allan Paul von Gunten was born in Oshawa. My birth certificate states Osnabruck Township/Stormont County and my sister's birth certificate states Newington, though there is about four years difference between us. I travelled back to my birthplace in 1988 and it was still very country. The sign on the road said "Finch", Population 400". I was able to visit the neighbours that still lived there that was across the road from us back then. Their name was Scott. It was a nice trip back. I moved to British Columbia after my husband died in 1990.

I just found your website & want to congratulate you for such a tremendous job you've done. This is something I'd like to see in our Huron County files but have never found anything like this on any website.
I am very interested in old obits as I'm doing a project on our Wroxeter Cemetery in Howick Twp. Huron County. I started this a number of years ago where I take a photo of the stone, try to find an obit, a photo of the people & then find out who their parents were. I spend a lot of time in our cemetery & have learned a lot over the years.
I have gone to our Goderich Museum & gone through a huge box of obits & found lots. I ask everyone I see if they have old newspapers & to date I have done reasonably well. I've also got a couple of large binders full of obits from Huron County. I never seem to have time to check websites but I keep asking people where I can find Huron County obits.
I want to thank you for all your hard work on your site. You should be very pleased.

I'm the Stormont County Coordinator and I can help if you can give me a more specific request for info that you're looking for, so that both of us are not looking in the same records. For example, there are records for: census, birth, baptism, death, etc. Looking for a complete family over a period of 200 or more years (1804 - 2010) can involve months of research. The internet is loaded with genealogy info, so it helps to have an agenda when looking for ancestors so that you may look in the right place. I can certainly guide you if you choose to continue...
