I wish SKS can help me. I have researched the Ports up and down the American Coast with no avail. I was told that my grfa. TWISS, Wm. Jas. 11.11.1869-Jan. 1953 had left Cork, Ireland in 1887 on the Barque Julia from Edinborough. The master--do not know his name--was a good friend of his parents. It landed--as it had been told to me--in New York and stayed with good friends of his parents. Then he went up into Hamilton, Ontario, Canada about a month later. The info. of my grfa. coming into New York was told to me by my sister, who in turn, was told by an uncle.
Also, if SKS would, also, help me find the name of a ship which had landed in Montreal, March or April of 1888, my grgrfa. and his family--TWISS, Edward Francis Day, Jr., b. C. 1850's-1924. (I do not have my tree with me, unfortunately! :) ) All of my family d. in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I know they came through Montreal because I saw it somewhere online, "in my travels", many years ago and kick myself for not Saving the information.
And, since I can not find where this Barque had docked, then, I am forced to go to Edinborough, Scotland and find The Julia. Also, is there a way to find Her, at all, please?
Please, do not do the work for me. I wish to do it, myself. This is not what I am asking of you to do. All I want are: e-mail/s/website/snames, etc. so that I am able to go forward in my research.
I am beside myself, here. I do not know where to go. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. :)
When replying, please, put TWISS family in the Subject line.
Thank you so much.
