I was recently in NC driving through Currituck County in addition to others and noticed various homes where is looked like graves in the front/back/side/field. I was wondering what the origin of this is? Do the homeowners have any stake in them? Etc. I found it both curious and fascinating at the same time but was too timid to stop the car to ask or take pics. Could you provide me with some information? Thanks, Lori

Hello,

I came across your site recently and thought that you might be interested in an article I helped write. The focus of the article is all about fantastic university library websites that can serve as great academic resources for students: http://onlinephdprogram.org/university-libraries/

If you find it to be helpful, I was hoping you'd be willing to link to it on your site, or possibly pass it around another way?

Thank you very much, and I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,

I am both a Martin and Bell descedant, but they're not NA lines "that I know of". I'm Choctaw through Pearson lines, Creek through Hale/Haujo lines, Nansemond/Lumbee through Coleman lines, and Cherokee through lines I have no surnames for. I'm curious about the Martin and Bell genealogies to learn if they are related to me. Any info on the ancestry of Chief Phillip Martin and his wife's Bell lines would be greatly appreciated. I am on the historical genealogy research team for Perdido Bay Tribe of Lower Muscogee Creek Indians and there are a lot of Bell kin on there and some others with Martin ties. I'm curious to learn if the Choctaw Martins and Bells might be related. Mvto!

What surnames are you researching and what do you TWISS/TWISSE/TWIST
Comments:

I wish SKS can help me. I have researched the Ports up and down the American Coast with no avail. I was told that my grfa. TWISS, Wm. Jas. 11.11.1869-Jan. 1953 had left Cork, Ireland in 1887 on the Barque Julia from Edinborough. The master--do not know his name--was a good friend of his parents. It landed--as it had been told to me--in New York and stayed with good friends of his parents. Then he went up into Hamilton, Ontario, Canada about a month later. The info. of my grfa. coming into New York was told to me by my sister, who in turn, was told by an uncle.

Also, if SKS would, also, help me find the name of a ship which had landed in Montreal, March or April of 1888, my grgrfa. and his family--TWISS, Edward Francis Day, Jr., b. C. 1850's-1924. (I do not have my tree with me, unfortunately! :) ) All of my family d. in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I know they came through Montreal because I saw it somewhere online, "in my travels", many years ago and kick myself for not Saving the information.

And, since I can not find where this Barque had docked, then, I am forced to go to Edinborough, Scotland and find The Julia. Also, is there a way to find Her, at all, please?

Please, do not do the work for me. I wish to do it, myself. This is not what I am asking of you to do. All I want are: e-mail/s/website/snames, etc. so that I am able to go forward in my research.

I am beside myself, here. I do not know where to go. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

When replying, please, put TWISS family in the Subject line.

Thank you so much.

Shannah TWISS

Thank you so much.

Shannah TWISS

This site looks very interesting. I'm spending too much time perusing genealogy sites that are available instead of beginning and sticking to ONE family. Have a cousin working on one line and sharing. Another line (Howell) I have all of it back to 1600 ON PAPER. So, as you can see, I am not a very organized person in my retired years!
