Hello

Concerning Sarah Francis Storms. She is the first daughter of James Storm b. 1820 N.J. and Harriet E. Wilson b. 1820 N.J. They moved to Iowa around 1854 where they also had Mary and James. Harriet died and James married Emeline Secord b. 1830 Connecticut. They had Kate, Harriet/Hattie, Joseph, Jane/Jennie, Emma, and John. Emeline also died in Iowa. They moved to Colorado around 1872. James was part of the Greeley farming colony.

Sarah Francis Storms married Samuel Tallman in Iowa April 2 1868 cedar co. Iowa. The marriage record has Sarah as "Frances Stearnss" You can find them in the census living in Colorado.

My brick wall is James Storms b.1820 N.J. His parents were born in N.J. but he never gives their names. If you have any info I would love to hear it.

Thanks, Patrick Storms

Hello to you? I hope that this site it still checked. My name is Kimberly Hessell, my grandmother is Francis A Hunt-Tallman; her father is Charles Milton Tallman; his is William Henry Tallman and his James Bell Tallman; which leads me to James Benton Tallman. I currently live in the Davenport, IA area and go to Mount Pleasant and West Point Iowa area frequently. I have been to the Friends Cemetery where James and Mary Tallman are buried and was wondering if you knew who was buried at the "Tallman Cemetery" on the Peterson's farm? I found that information at the Mount Pleasant, IA library and contact Mr. Leon Peterson who was very shocked to know that I had learned of it. He remembered some people coming to the farm with Michigan plates and his father has asked if they had wanted to see the place. It is unmarked, except with 5 Silver Maple tree's-which have since fallen do to the elements of nature.

I am going to be going there and he has agreed to take me to the cemetery, however, I do not know who is buried there. I know that James Benton Tallman lived in that area, however, from my understanding of the OUTSTANDING work that was passed by Nancy and Robert Tallman in 1994, that there were other Tallman's that also came to Iowa. Since I am here, I thought I would look into it further.

If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it. I can be reached at khessell@ikon.com, kimberlyhessell@yahoo.com or my wireless 309-751-7030.

Respectfully,

Kimberly Hessell

Hi, I wonder if you have any family stories that say what became of William Tallman, the person who was suspected of killing Virginia Patty. She was my grandmother, though I was born many years after her murder. We had a family story that the man who supposedly did it(Mr Tallman) escaped from the boat on the way to Alcatraz, the reality is that they were supposedly holding him on the ship on the way to San Francisco, and when the boat docked, he wasn't where he was supposed to be. Detectives combed the ship, but no William Tallman. I've read several old newspaper articles about it and all sorts of people in all sorts of places were "spotting" William Tallman on the street. As far as I know they never found Mr Tallman and the murder was never solved. Do you have any family stories of what became of him? Virginia Patty was born Viola Scott in Iowa and seemed a very frivolous sort of woman--but she was a very young woman who should have lived till she was very old.

Sara L. lived in Ogden Utah and married Leo Busch, and had a female child named Kay Lynn Busch(July 62) and then was divorced(?) in 1960-1964. Sara then married George Hamilton and briefly lived in Tulsa Oklahoma where she died of an aneurism 10/10/64. Sara L. has two other surviving children, Pamla and Scott Hamilton(surname) in Oklahoma who would greatly appreciate information concerning their mother and extended family.

Sara’s mother, Sara K. King-Toone-Montgomery (paternal grandmother) was born in Henryville, Tennessee 1/16/1905 to Nellie Kerr and Frank F. King. Sara K. died in Ogden Utah 1983.

My husbands father's was Christopher Paul Tallman Sr. He was born and raised in New York. His father was John Tallman who was a NY City police officer. John served in WWI in the army and was part of the BIG RED 1.
My father in law had two other brothers, Jack and Valentine Tallman. Neither one of them married. They did a lot of family research and found that we are related to the founders of the town of "Tallman" located, I've been told in the south/east end of NY.
Also, we are related to a "Hattie" Tallman. I have more infor., that I do not have handy at this time, but if anyone is interested, would be glad to assist.
Thank you for this wonderful site!

My full name is Robert Burton Edwards, III.

My grandmother may be the daughter of Sarah Ann Scarlett, but I doubt it. Here is my family information (Hicks).

My grandmother was born in June 16, 1900, but no 'town' was listed. Her maiden name was Dora Bell Hicks.

My grandfather has Parsons, KS as his place of birth on my parents marriage license. My grandfathers name is Robert Burton Edwards.

My father was born in Yuma, AZ on June 16, 1939 (yes, identical day as his mother, my grandmother).

My grandparents moved from Kansas to Colorado then finally settled in Arizona and raised a family before he passed away.

My father, Robert Burton Edwards, Jr., went to an Edwards (or Hicks?) family reunion in the 1940s/50s in north Texas, I think Lubbock. But that's all the information I have. He lost track of his family and it has fallen on me to retrace my heritage.

If there is any connection, don't hesitate to email.

Very nice website.

Thomas Scarlett was born in Orange County, NC somewhere around 1800. He married Willie or Wiley Crabtree in 1833. He died in Monterey, Mexico in 1848, in the War with Mexico. He left six children, but the eldest, Ann, is not named in any of the pension records. Could that be because she was over 16? Could she have been born to one or the other of them before 1833? Was Thomas married before? Did his wife die? Did he marry Willie because he had a child to be cared for? Or was it the other way around. So many Thomases. Was he the Thomas born to George Scarlett & Elizabeth Hartsfield? Lots of questions. My husband's family still lives on Scarlett Mountain in Orange County. The family cemetery is there.

Always happy to find others searching Scarlett. If I gather enough information perhaps it will all fall together in time.

Thanks. Carol

Very interesting family tree. Have you ever heard of the Killen family from Greenhill, Alabama. My fathers family, wiht many still living, are from that area. Greenhill is about 15-20 minutes out of Florence located in Northwest Alabama. My fathers name is Paul Glenn Killen. His father was Albert Killen. Many Killen's and their family have lived in that area since the 1800's. I wish I had more to provide you on this email. If you desire, I can probably provide more by mail. Perhaps somewhere the paths of the Killen's I viewed in this sight and the Killen's in Alabama crossed somewhere.

This 1907 letter represents biggest discovery on the family of William Pace, Sr. since the 1815 deed of Scott County, Virginia was published in Noble Pace's book in 1962. I published an 864 page in 1988 on my "Shelton, Wininger and Pace Families" which I wished I would have this letter then. I guess it was not meant to be at that time (but better late than never). My web site now has around 20,000 Pace cousins documented and is growing all the time: http://www.rcasey.net/acrobat/pac0203c.pdf for the latest "Pace Family History." I split up my book into three books since I now have over 25,000 on these three lines. Do not forget to look at "Wininger Family History" and "Shelton Family History" as the have 1,000s of Pace relatives in them as well. Have over 200 intermarriages between these three lines (primary in Scott County, VA and Jackson County, AL where the families lives since the early 1800s). This year has been an unbelievable year of genealogical discoveries for me on all my lines. This 1907 letter is only one of a dozen major finds - why this year and not the previous ten or fifteen years will remain a mystery to me - more interest, the Internet, who nows ?

I was searching for my great grandmother's maiden name and found it here. My great grandmother was Ethel Mae Covert b. 1/28/1887 d. 12/12/1975 who married Newton Earl Tallman in Tipton, Indiana on 12/8/1904. My grandmother, who was their oldest daughter born 1/9/1908, just passed away at the age of 95. She was Virgie Alma Tallman Holcomb who married Lorenzo Dow Holcomb on 9/4/1926. For some reason, the funeral home needed her mother's maiden name, and I was able to find it at this web site. Thanks!

One had a daughter named Barbara Ann Seay who married Robert G. Noell and she had a brother named Isaac Seay.
We need to know which Austin is her father because Austin Sr had an Austin Jr. And Stephen Seay had a son Austin.
So now, which one is Barbara's father?

I have traced him back to our Robert Sumner (Quaker)whose son bowater left Greensboro N.C.,went to Ohio; From there MANY Sumners went to Ohio, then on to Indiana ,where some remained Quakers.
Then many of the Sumners went west to Ks.,Ia to Nb; Two of the Sumner boys were badly beaten in Ia --one died.
So,if this remotley rings a bell --LETS TALK AND EXCHANGE INFO!!

Well, off to do some more looking around your site. By the way, when is the Marsh Reunion? I called Gennie and told her to meet me in Tulsa, and we would go.
