Great work. There is so much to get through that I'm sure it would take me to my grave many years from now to just scratch the surface. I've found some of my ancestors here, in fact many, many that are direct blood-line ancestors, and I'm grateful for this site.
Thank you for such diligent work.

So Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm new to Franks site, came across it on One Word Tree, when looking for some info on a relative that has crossed our path. That of Solomon McIntire husband of Rohda and son John McIntire. But it seems he was as stuck as we are. Sorry we can't connect heads to maybe come up with some answers. You have lost a great historian

I can not express enough how great full I am that this genealogy work has been done for the Madans. I have been able to re unite a divided family that was unaware of each others existence for over 45 years with this information. We are all ready planning a family reunion. Thank you Dyer family!

Hello, and ya already got my name folks. I am a 10th/11th-generation, direct descendant of Robert Spink and Alice Hewes (Howes). While researching my family tree, off and on, for about 14 years, I have come to learn that my folks crossed paths with other notable ancestrial lineages; yours in particular. Once I get further back in the saddle, and get all my works together, I was hoping that you and I can compare notes and relatives that are, shall we say, inter-twined? :o)
My email is Redfeennix@yahoo.com...but then again y'all already got that too LOL.
Hope to hear from you in the interim.
Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Back in the early 50s through the early 60s, I had a violin teacher, Joel C. Prouty. He lived on 149 Place in the borough of Queens, N.Y. He'd motor out to Long Island where I lived, in his gorgeous, powder blue 1949 Olds convertible with red leather upholstery. He owned a beautiful Guanerius violin which he cherished (not sure of spelling). He allowed me to use his instrument when I gave a recital as a senior in high school (1057). He had a son but his name escapes me - that's pretty much all I have in my 73 year old head. Please feel free to contact me on the address above. Enjoy the holidays!!

I was so excited to reach out and connect with Frank after finding his research on the Dyer family, only to learn he has since passed away. William Dexter Dyer is my great-grandfather. Without even knowing, Frank's revealed to me a priceless family history all the way to my 8 great-grandparents. I am so grateful for the time and documentation he put into his research and was eager to say thank you and hello. My deepest condolences. May there be peace in knowing, that in a way, he continues to live on through his research.

My sympathy goes out to the family of Frank Dyer. Perhaps we are, somehow, related. He now knows the answer to a riddle, I, too, have struggled to resolve.

Frank, if you're out there, guide us in the right direction!

If someone has discovered the lineage of William Dyre (or Dyer), father-in-law of Thomas Jefferson Tharp, and grandfather of my great grandfather, William Dyer Tharp, I would be ecstatic.

Sorry for the passing away of Mr Franck Dyer. May I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends.
I am a French University professor (retired) working on my partner's family history. A branch of her English family tree starts with Joseph Chesebrough (or Chesborough) Dyer, (a "lost" Dyer's) who settled in Manchester as an "American Entrepreneur" in 1816. He was the son of Nathaniel Dyer, a Captain of the R.I. Navy during the Independance War.

I hope it may be possible to add the elements of the following RootsWeb tree to Frank's work in the continuation of his efforts to share so many years of dedicated research:

WorldConnect database: richardberland, "European descendants of Nathaniel Dyer (Cpt) of Rhode Island"

Please let me know if you are interested.

Hello. I have a brand-new interest in the DYER families which lived in Westport, MA, during all of the 1800's. In particular I'm interested in Mrs. Elizabeth DYER, wife of Warren DYER (and previously a wife of Charles DYER). Elizabeth is the sister of the lady I believe to be my ancestor, Mrs. Rhoda (MANCESTER) (LAVARE) CLARK. Rhoda was b1800 and Elizabeth ~1803 in Westport. I'm told they lived into their 80's and lived beside each other.

My grandmother's story is a long and complicated one. Rhoda's 4th child was Mary Anna CLARK. When married she became Mrs. John DEXTER of Killingly, CT. ~1888 John and Mary moved to Melrose, MA, and in 1892 they adopted a little girl. That was my grandmother. I believe that they adopted their granddaughter. IF I'm correct, than Rhoda is my ancestor. I cannot find a female descendant of Rhoda's daughters, so I need to find a female descendant of her sister - in order to try to do a DNA test.

Thank you for your time.

P.S. I'm having trouble finding the names of the children of Canaan DYER, who is reportedly the father of Warren DYER.

I can't add much to the beautiful things that have already been said. Like so many I am related to a line on Frank's site and knew 1/10th of the line before stumbling onto it. Frank has touched so many of us with his passion for finding our Dyer Roots - I wish I had made the time to contact him just once. His is a proud legacy.

You don't know
how much I miss you
I live each day
as it comes
functioning in all my tasks
smiling when needed
even laughing at times
but inside I am so alone
each minute seems like an hour
each hour seems like a day
What makes this time bearable
are my thoughts of you and
knowing that I will
be with you someday

papa, i look at this guestbook and i realize how much you have inspired peoples lifes and how you have brought great happiness and joy to so many others besides your family. We miss you terribly and we want you back, i feel like if i close my eyes and open them again and i will see you, i just want to see you one more time and here that full belled laugh of yours. i love you so much and i miss you dearly.

love always.

What a terrible loss! I am so sorry to hear that Frank died and that I missed my chance to thank him in this guestbook. I checked his website today to look up a Dyer question and found your sad news. Alas, I never knew Frank beyond his Dyer Families of New England website, but he was wonderful to me by helping me flesh out my Dyer ancestors and cousins and by expanding my family tree to include Mary Barrett Dyer and Anne Marbury Hutchinson. He included my line in his tree down to my parents, Alice Gertrude Mahady and Charles Everett Burt.
So, I say farewell to Frank and thankyou to his family. I look forward to continuing to visit his website. All my best wished, Janet

Hello and Happy New Year! I haven't been here for awhile. I am related to the William Dyer, Mary Barrett line from Rhode Island. My grandmother, Mae (Dyer) Phillips was the daughter of Addison Dyer from Maine. Glad to have you keep up with the Dyer families like this. Just researching my immediate family keeps me puzzled and frustrated (sometimes). We were born very close to each other, my b.d. being the 15th of June, 1936. I also served in the Korean War prior to going to veterinary school at WSU. The Dyer family is one of my most complete lines thanks to folks like you! Thank you!!!!

Very nice site. I'm a Mayflower Descendant of John Howland (GSMD#65,273) and trying to show an additional line to Stephen Hopkins. It looks like Anna Small (c1695-6/17/1794) married Henry Dyer (4/11/1693- bef. 1767) and I follow the Dyer line until it hits a Sawyer (Joseph 1760-1848). I have very good source info for my line below this. Anna Small appears to be traceable back to Stephen Hopkins (Anna's mother was Agigail Snow, her Abigails father John Snow, and John's mother Constance Hopkins, and Constance's father Stephen Hopkins) Have you become a member of the GSMD connecting back to Stephen Hopkins?

Hi Frank,
I think I've finally found my Addie [Adda in the 1870 census] Belle Dyer Bradley. I belive her to be the daughter of Charles F. Dyer [7857 in your database] of Lorain and other Ohio places. He is the son of Darwin Dyer who was born in New York. That's as far as I've gotten in the three hours since I found the connection. Of course, not I get to prove it.
My clue came from a photo album with pictures of Charles Dyer and Hugh Dyer, apparently his son. Charles died before 1877. Hugh was living with his mother, her second husband and their 2 year old child in the 1880 census.
Thanks for maintaining this database with all its connections!

Your website is amazing. A true treasure trove! THANK YOU so much for sharing all of this information, and especially your excellent citations of sources--something that is not often found.

Thanks again, and Happy Memorial Day!

We are connected by Jeremiah C. Harding of Unity, Maine, spouse of Sarah Dyer. In researching Jeremiah's nephew Evander Harding (Maine to Florida), I have discovered:
#1)In 1920 Census, Wimauma, Hillsborough County, Florida, household #128/128: Nettie M. Harding, 48 yo cousin to HOH 72 yo Everett (sic, Evander) E. Harding. She is a nurse. He is a farmer and owns his farm. Both are single. Both were born in Maine. I suspect this is Jeremiah and Sarah's daughter Annette.
#2)Residing in Balm, Florida, Evander is a homocide victim in March 1925. Informant on his death certificate is Nannie (Nancie) Harding, Arcadia, Florida. She gives information abt his father (if this is Annette, their fathers would be brothers). She does not know Van's mother's maiden name - which would be understandable.
#3) In 1930 Census, Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, in the household ending Tampa's records: there is Nellie M. Harding, 58 yo, single, Superintendent of Anes @ hospital, she and her parents b Maine. Another listing which was started for the Tampa Municipal Hospital and scratched included her with the same information.
Can you help confirm, or ID this woman/these women?
"Uncle Van never married. He went to Florida and was murdered" is not much of a legacy. I'd like to fill in the missing pieces - including the details of his homocide.
Thank you. D.A.Harding

Hello,

I just came across your Dyer site. Very impressive! I'm currently searching for Downings, which led me to your site. I've also been using other sites, like the LDS. I might have some information for you.

Some years ago, I visited a cemetery in Easton, MA, looking for Downings. One stone was for Richard and Sylvia Downing.

RICHARD DOWNING, d 11/2/1875, aged 90.
SYLVIA (DYER) PIERCE, d 2/16/1882.

From other obtained records, Sylvia would be the Sylvia Dyer, d/o Benjamin & ______, ae 69-0-20, according to the Easton d record; and, the d/o Benjamin Harrison and Betsey (Dearborn) Dyer of Minot, ME, d and place unknown, according to the LDS page, where I also found your Dyer URL. Richard is probably the Richard bc1807, of Minot, who probably m 1/w Sally D Lane in 1832, and then Sylvia, on 11 Nov, 1838, Minot, with the bride's name printed on the LDS site as Silva Pirerce(!).

For me, finding this ME connection effectively eliminated Richard as being from the SE MA family of John and Sarah (Read) Downing of Braintree, who moved into Randolph about 1739, that I am looking at, as probably being the family of my ggg-grandmother Sally Downing, who m Samuel Bryant in 1800 in Bridgewater, MA. Any step in the right direction is Good!!

I still have 2 more Dyers to check out for hints. Mary Downing m Solomon Dyer, int, 12/12/1779, Weymouth, MA; and, Bathsheba Monk m, 8/23/1768, as 1/w, John Dyer.

Hope this helps.

Harry Woodworth, b Brockton, MA, now of Willingboro, NJ.

My Johnstown clan came from Lancaster, PA and I know very little more. Would it be resonable to assume they entered the country in Philadelphia or came down from the North?

Kudos for the music - great addition!
I happened upon your site looking for Frank E. Dyer who married 2nd, Lizzie Dyer. I believe Lizzie was a twin sister to Josephine White Mott, wife of Walter Mott (1877-1935, s/o Edward Mott and Ruth Foster). Lizzie and three children are listed in 1910 in Lincoln, Maine Census and in Walter's boarding house in Millincoket, Maine in 1910 also. Lizzie apparently was a "servant" at Walter's. Again, I believe she was a twin to Walter's wife Josephine. (Josephine and Walter are buried in Lincoln Center Cemetery, Maine) Small town happenings, the Dyers lived two houses from my grandmothers in Lincoln. The twins would visit one another in their adulthood - catching or being dropped off by the bus at the end of Libby Street (Lincoln). As they walked by her house, my grandmother never knew who was coming from and who was going to the bus because they were identical in looks.
Again, a wonderful page. I'm envious. --- DA Harding, a great niece to Walter E. Mott.

Hi Frank "Sonny"!!

I have been out of the genealogy loop since moving to Atlanta, GA from Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1996. I've been busy raising my children and doing homework. In doing a heritage project with my 10 year old and came upon your website...Marshall Johnson would be thrilled to see that you have his data published. Is appears that our Col James Dyer's (1756-1835) father John Dyer (d. 28 APR 1784, Sturbridge) has been linked to the William and Mary Dyer (Boston - RI) line instead of the Deacon Thomas Dyer of Weymouth. Have you seen the manucrript "By The NAme of Dyer, A Genealogical Record", by William Allan Dyer, Syracuse, NY, 1940? Do you know how to get a copy?

It sounds like you have had your ups and downs medically but I hope that this note finds you doing well. Look forward to hearing from you!

Appleton who married Sara Barnes(???) and had several children including Charles E. (Edwin???) Appleton. Charles married Mary Moore and bore 9 children. One of which bore myself and 3 siblings.

I live in Wincanton, Somerset, England and I have been working on a local history project. Researching I have come across William Dyer (Dyre) and Mary Dyer as early settlers to America from Wincanton. According to what I have found I think William Dyer's grandfather came from Bratton Seymour, just outside Wincanton - do you have any knowledge of this? (John Dyer born 1550-his son was called William and was born in 1580 then he had a son William 19th September 1609 who went on to marry Mary Barrett)

I work for Wincanton Town Council and in the council chamber upstairs is a portrait of Sir James Dier (Dyer) who was born in 1512 at Roundhill Grange - not sure if he is a relative but this man was MP for Cambridgeshire, became Speaker of the House of Commons then later went on to become Lord Chief Justice of Common Pleas in 1559

Do you think these people are related?

If you could let me have any information as to whether or not the Dyer's came from Wincanton, Somerset I would be grateful

Hoping to hear from you

Thank you for all of your work! I was very pleased to be able to finally untangle the Dr. William Dyer and Christophe Dyer ancestors in my family tree. What a surprise it was to find my name in your list! If you would like any more Beal information please let me know. My aunt (Eugenie Moore Beal, wife of David Dean Beal) and I have been building an ahnentafel of the Beal family as it relates to my grandfather, John Woodbridge Beal.

If you have a moment, please let me know where I may find more information on Thomas Stevens and Sarah Place - parents of Jane Stevens; wife of Joseph Dyer (1703 - 1749). I would like to add them to our table, but cannot find any information about their births or deaths.

Thank you again,

I am researching the Dyer family but unfortunately this part of my family tree has been my brick wall. My great grandmother is Laura Belle Dyer. She was married to Allison E. Murrin in McAlester, Indian Territory, OK, in Pittsburg County. She was 17 at the time so I figure she was born in 1883 or 1884 since her marrige took place October 1, 1901. Her license said she and my Great Grandfather both lived in a town called Blocker in Pittsburg County. With the exception of her being on OK's census in 1910, I really don't know much else about her. She died when my Grandmother was 12 so that would make it around 1914. If anyone has any info about who her parents are and where she came from, I would greatly appreciate it.
I also appreciate all the great work you have done on this site.

My name is Gary Parsons, and I am in search of my Grandfather. He seems very elusive. I am in the hopes that you may have come across him in your research, and will be willing to share the information with me. His name was William Orville Lee Dyer. Mother was Rebecca, and his father I don't know. Info I have says he was born in TN. March 3, 1863, however, I think he might have been born in Grainger Co., TN. before 1863. He married Nellie Luvenia Hogue (My Grandmother) in 1892. She was the daughter of William Monroe Hogue and Mary Jane Bates. William died Oct. 7, 1931 in OK. (probably around Seminole or Wewoka). My family was always very secretive and quiet when it came to family. I didn't even know how to spell my own middle name until I was 18 years old. Any help you can give in finding William will be greatly appreciated, and I would be very happy to share any information I have, if you would like it.

Sincerely
Gary D. Parsons Sr.

Mary Dyer, the Quaker martyr, is my ancestress. I am working on completing the family tree back to her generation. My greatgrandfather, William Dyer Tharp (b. in IN) was the son of Thomas Jefferson Tharp and Martha Dyer. That's as far back as I've gotten with the Dyers.

Also, I grew up in Manchester, IA -- a few miles from Dyersville, IA, settled by one James Dyer -- who, I believe emigrated from England. From family knowledge, I am also related to him, but have not yet figured out how he fits into the family tree.

James is my 4th great-grandfather and I am descended through his son Elijah whose mother was James'second wife Mary Hill, The Widow Metcalf. I can't find the parents of Mary Hill (she was from Fraklin, MASS.) Can you help me with this? Also, any information on any of these above-mentiond GLOVERS would be grately appreciated. I hope I have time to come back to this site and spend more time going through it. Thank you very much.

In regards to your posting on the LDS site:http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=prf/search_PRF.asp&clear_form=true

Asa Dyer, master mariner, and farmer, (born in Franklin, Me, in 1836), married on Jan. 1, 1865,to Marietta P. Butler, also of Franklin, DID NOT have a second marriage to Rachel French in 1870, as you posted on the LDS site. There was another Asa Dyer in the area who died in Nevada in 1865. I am certain of these facts about Asa Dyer, as I am currently living in the home in which he shared with his wife Marietta, and his children, Edith,(who married Dr. SS DeBeck) and Myra (also known as 'Brownie'--she died March 2, 1895, at the age of 19,just a few years after having married Julius Darling of Franklin.) Asa S. Dyer died in 1911, his wife Marietta died in 1934. Marietta was the daughter of Stillman Butler of Franklin. Asa was the son of John G.(died 7/10/1882, aged 70y 11m 10d) and Palmyra Dyer (died June17,1881, aged 69y 3m 28d).

Well, I think that you have a nice presentation on your web.

I just found this site by entering the few NEW names to the PAULL family history I am working on and going through family search. These are the families I am working on--and I am now overcome with all the possibilities of data to add to my work.!!! Just am not sure which DYER line to go to and wonder if the PAULL line is in your records...as I do not have children of parents names. This is what I have--
Alice Gertrude Paull / Herman L. Tripp
Eben Paull / Mary Nickerson
Dyer Paull / Patience Parrish
Ahasuerus Paul / Sarah Paul
Ebenezer Paul/ Hannah Staples
Ebenezer Paul / Hopestill Phillips
Benjamin Paul/ Ruth Dyer
William B. Paul/Mary Richmond
(Scotland)

Alice Gertrude Paull/ Herman L. Tripp
Grace Gertrude Tripp/ Richard Higham
Phyllis Gertrude Higham/ Richard Allison Whalon
Donna Louise Whalon/ ---Williams
Kevin Williams/ Emily Rebekah Harrington
Samantha Mary Lynn Williams and Sidney Byron LeRoy Williams-
children of Kevin and EMily

I am Emily's mother- Mary- helping them find their children's genealogy; this has not been done much in Kevin's family and all your help would be greatly appreciated.

We need help wading through the RIGHT lines back from ALice Paull; any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou, Mary Harrington

Thanks for your note about "Braintree, Quincy, Weymouth, etc. Families" on NORTHEAST-ROOTS. I had been unsubcribed for a few years and it was nice to see a familiar name. Also, thanks for your efforts on making the research of Sprague and Chamberlain available to those of us who research from outside of New England.

I was at fisheries conference at Westbrook, CT a few days ago, but managed to fit in a couple of days sightseeing and researching along the eastern Connecticut coast and the Connecticut River valley up as as far as Cummington, MA.
I stopped by the Shaw-Perkins (Nathaniel Shaw 1703-78) Mansion in New London for a tour and look at their genealogical resources (not for my Shaw family who I did not expect to be related, but for several lines in my moms family).

I was surprised to find that nothing seemed to known about the mansion owner's ancestry, other than one geneation back in Fairfield County. So I decided to a little checking and found a few recent articles by Gale Ion Harris in the NEHGS on the Brackett and Harris Families that has or will probably shed some light on Nathaniel Shaw's ancestry (I'm still reading and digesting the articles). One source indicates that he descends from the immigrant John Shaw of Boston (formerly of Halifax, Yorkshire, England). My Shaw line is through the immigrant Abraham Shaw (of Halifax, Eng. /Watertown/Dedham/descendants in Weymouth). So maybe there is room for a connection.

Sorry to ramble on. I did get a nice picture of the old Enfield church (on Highway 5) with snow on the ground and blue skies. If you would like me to send you an email copy let me know.

I was interested to find the name of Donald Kenneth Maxim (son of Elmer Maxim and Ida May Dyer) on your web site because Elmer Maxim is my grandfather's nephew. Elmer's mother was Harriet A. Frost of St. Albans, Maine. Her younger brother, Orlando Ephraim Frost, was my grandfather.
This Mr Maxim must have been her first husband and he must have died young. In the 1860 Census, Harriet is at home with her parents - by 1870, she has a small son and a second husband, a George H. I believe I'm fighting a losing battle here. The only information i have on my grandfather is the last name of Dyer. He was born in Maine in the early/mid 1800's. The story I've heard is that he had a family in the east when he met and married my great grandmother in Sam's Valley, Oregon around 1900. He then proceeded to have four children by her 17 year old daughter (my granmother, Agnes Piatt). He was evidently one bad hombre. He left Oregon in a bit of a hurry ahead of a family lynch party. I doubt if you would be able to help in breaking through this wall, but I thought I'd give a holler in case there might be something to go on.

Hello: Years ago my grandmother (Harriet Hill) lived in Redondo Beach , California. There seemed to be a gathering of people from Maine there. I remember the family names of Libby of course, Hill, Dyer, Farnum, Dunn. One of my crazy uncles was Ralph Dyer who lived up the street from "Nana". Ralph would take us to the Redondo Pier every Saturday to buy fish and crab legs. "Nana" fixed the best Fish Chowder I ever tasted. Her mother liver with her (my great grand mother) . She was in a wheel chair but you could not slow her down. On a day when we went to the Pier, Great Gram would be sitting in her wheel chair out by the car yelling "Hurry up Hattie" to my grandmother. This was all when El Segundo was full of oil wells and the air smelled of oil. The 1940's and 50's.

One of the families that I was working on was the Baxter family as it relates to the Stedman family that is my principal interest. I noticed your data on the family of Daniel Baxter and Sarah White. One of the daughters married a Josiah Stedman and another married Lemuel Shattuck who was one of the founders of the NEHGS. The NEHGS has Lemuel's manuscripts which include a discussion of these families. I do not believe that these have been published.

She was a sister of my Great Grandmother. The name Sophia is not pronounced like Sophia Loren but Soff-Eye-uh. Sophia was my Grandmother's Middle name and she was named after her Aunt Sophia. I do not know if Sophia was maried or not, but your information could be plausible.
Sophia was the Second child and eldest daughter of Israel Littlefield, Jr. Son of Israel, Sr. Israel Sr. is as far back as I have been able to go. Been stuck on this block or 20 years now. I am descended from Alphreda Littlefield, sister of Sophia.
Do you think there is any connection?

So glad that you and Caroline found Joseph Dyer, son of Joseph & Dorcas Fly Dyer. Do you have any other children for Joseph & Phebe Wheeler? Heard recently from Joe Keller, asking about Thomas Dyer. Did Joseph and Phebe have a son, Thomas? I thought that Joseph's parents were Joseph & Abigail Haley Dyer. Joseph, who married Abigail, was the son of William & Mary Chadbourne Dyer. This was found in Sybil Noyes' notes on the Dyers. Regards, Jill

Hi

My Great Grandmother Ruth Ellen Black, b. 1843 PA. She was the first wife of Wasson Dyer b. 1830 NY (parents Peter & Susan Dyer). Ellen & Wasson had one daughter, Lizzie Dyer. Wasson died in Livingston County Mo in 1872 the same year they moved from La Porte, IN where they were married.
The Black family moved from PA to IN in 1859. Ruth Ellen Black Dyer married (2) Mathias Baltis in Livingston, CO Mo.

Wasson & Ellen Dyer's daughter, Lizzie Dyer married John Compton and lived in Sams, CO. in 1904.

Thought this information my help someone even though I am not related to the Dyer family directly.

Hello, cousin! I'm delighted to finally being able to find out more about my father's side of the family earlier than their being in Theresa, N.Y. in the 19th Century. The story of my 9th-generation grandfather George Cheesman's capture by a British press gang, escape, and rescue by his future wife Jane Durrell/Duran is as exciting as any novel I've ever read. I'm trying to find out the name of the ship from which he escaped. Do you have anything on this? The only ship I can trace to Boston during those years [1707 - 1711] is H.M.S. Dragon, which was there in 1709. Anything you have on this would be appreciated, and any info. I can provide to you will be quickly on its way.

I live in the west (Seattle) and Dyer is not too common a name out here. I grew up in LA and the only Dyers I knew about were my family. Then once I went to Mass. and visited and found my surname everywhere, even Mary Dyer the Quaker whose statute stands in Boston. I have lived also in the South and of course found the name also very common there. Very interesting.

I have found Bell A. Dyer [aged 18] is listed living with William Bradley and his wife Hannah at the time of the 1880 Census in Wellington, Lorain, OH. She and Joseph Henry were married in September. She apparently was living with his family the summer before? The census taker lists her as Bell, but she signed a sampler Addie Belle. Any chance you have a Bell or Belle Dyer in Lorain, OH?

He was born Feb. 26, 1838 and died July 3, 1865 at Gettysburg, Pa. I believe that he was born in Maine, probably Vinalhaven or Norht Haven. His parents were William and Betsy (Ames) Frye. He married Lavinia Snowdeal. He probably was killed in the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. Do you have any information on him? I am interested to know if he had any children. This is a great site! I am a descendant of Lavinia DYER and Hiram W. WILD(E) of Braintree. My great-grandmother was Clara Lavinia WILDE. Her WILDE line went to Bristol County, MA. She lived her live in New Bedford, MA. Her father and 5 brothers lived in Fairhaven, MA. Only one went away -- Willie WILDE first went to Denver, later Los Angeles. My cousin, Elton Sumner WILDE, b. 1870's in Fairhaven, was very well known. He became the Pres. of the Union St. Railroad in New Bedford, and was on the boards of many large companies. The (then) Mayor was a pall bearer at Elton's funeral (Mayor Harriman of N.B.). He was appointed to one board by Gov. Alvan T. Fuller. My line in Braintree are filled with lots & lots of THAYERS, HAYDENs, NEALEs, etc. Over & over they married relatives. Glad we all turned out OK! Thanks, again, for your site. If you have a list of the children of Hiram W. WILD(E) & his wife, Lavinia A. DYER, I would be interested to learn this. Only my great-grandfather is listed as their child (my Hiram Franklin WILDE). My WILDEs seem to first move to Somerset, MA and they Fairhaven for the rest of their lives. I do not know when they left Braintree/Weymouth.

Best, Betty G., Middleboro, MA

We share several family names but at the moment I'm most interested in finding Capt. Thomas Bacon of the ship "Ivy" out of Newburyport, MA b. 1814 in Sullivan, ME and the family of his wife, Mary Abby Sawyer White of the same place. They were my grandmother's gr. grandparents.

Your site has some incredible information. I have been working with the volume; Henry Adams of Braintree, Mass and John Adams of Cambridge compiled by Andrew N. Adams published by The Tuttle Co. 1898 in Rutland, Vt.
I have been fortunate, in that many people have contacted me with their extended lineage to incorporate properly into the Henry Adams line. Forthcoming, I will be downloading all this information to Ancestry.com. Over 17,000 names.
It appears that most information posted about Henry Adams of Braintree has been incomplete or incorrect. Keep up the good work. This site gets mentioned almost daily and with good reason.
