Comments:	My grandfather, Henry Kruse settled in Farmersburg, Iowa. He married Augusta Behrens on 12/3/1901 and they had six children. Johann Christian Heinrich Behrens (Augusta's Grandfather) left Germany from Hamburg on 5/27/1857 from Zulow Germany and eventually settled in Clayton County, Iowa and was a farmer. I plan on returning to your site soon to see if I see any connections. My mother (Kruse) and her siblings expanded to areas from New York to California. Harvey Kruse (the eldest) lived in California and his contracting firm built the subway in Washington, DC and one of his sons was an elected official. Praise the Lord. We are all connected through Christ's shed blood!

Comments:	What a wonderful site. Very interesting. My grandmother, great grandmother and great,great grandmother were all born KRUSE. However, I sadly do not know of one male KRUSE family member and would love to find one. My greatgreat grandmother was Maria Dorothea Elizabeth KRUSE born in Gross Schretstaken, Schleswig Holstein on 9th October, 1875. She had a daughter Martha Katharina Caroline KRUSE. (1896 approx). Then Maria married a HOLTIG. They lived in the Trittau area.Keep up the great work.

My father was Walter Bob Kruse and lived in kansas City. I moved to Tennessee in 1975. I have more complete information on our side of the family.

Comments:	My mother's father was Hermann Kruse who owned a farm in Perdohl. There is a family story of my grandfather's birth and his mother dying in childbirth. When he was still very small his older sister or half sister came from America where she had moved to in order to see her little brother. My grandfather was born somewhere in the 1880's I believe and died in 1918. My mother always wondered what this mystery aunt's name was and where did she settle.

Comments:	What a wonderful web site! My family were Meissners. I think my Dad said that Wilhelm and Elfrieda Meissners home was located near where one of the Chicago airports are now. Wilhelm died in 1901. They were farmers in Reinbeck, Iowa but settled in Chicago when they retired. Makes me wonder if they knew your ancestors. Elfrieda's father was a Lutheran minister at Holzendorf Mecklenburg-Schwerin. They were married by Ernst Beckmann there on the 16 July 1858. Not the exact same area as your ancestors but close. Comments:	My great grandfather, Christoph Martin Brandt was the son of Johann Brandt and Maria Kruse. The family history we have stops at this generation and we have been searching for who their parents were, etc. Your web site is wonderful. I noticed you have only two children on your tree for Johann and Maria. They had a daughter also, who was the oldest child. Mary Dorothea Brandt (b 22 Oct 1843 in Mecklenburg-Vorpormmem, GE and died 18 May 1921 Falls City, NE). She married Carl Peter Joachim Zentner (b 7 Apr 1840 in Klingendorf, Bad Doberan, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, GE and died 19 Feb 1919 in Falls City, NE) They had nine children. I have much more info on her family if you would like it. Also a mega amount on Christoph and family.

Comments:	My great grand parents emigrated from Seefeld, Gemany (near Oldenburg) in 1871. I have been back to the Church there and traced my family back to the 1500's. There was an Abbott named Johann Heinrich Kruse who got out of the Abbey and became Lutheran and married during the time of Martin Luther. Tracing back even more, the Kruse's were Frisians who came from Holland to Germany in the 1200's.

Comments:	My Great-Grandma, Agnes Kruse, was possibly the most beautiful woman I ever knew. She would tell my brother and I the most amazing stories about what it was like to grow up. And being born in 1895, we were simply amazed as children of the 20th century that our Great Grandma Mom was born in another century! I only know of one male Kruse - Alan (could be Allen) which was my great uncle (my Grandmother's brother). Agnes Kruse had no middle name. Interested to see if anyone knows of her or where they came from. Our family story is actually very tragic... it would be nice to know where we're from. Cristina D. Johnson

Comments:	Hi Fritz, found the Godemann family tree..WOW, goes back a long way! Wanted to give you some info about Lillian Godemann and Charles N. Hohs' descendants, their children are Charles J. Hohs, Dorothea Hohs, Lorraine Hohs & Barbara Hohs. I am Charles J's and Naomi V. Bratcher's 2nd daughter. Charles & Naomi were married 5-15-43 in San Luis Obispo, CA. Your info on their first daughter, Dorothea is correct. They had 5 children. My bdate is 10-17-46 in Evanston IL, third child is Charles M. b 7-29-51 in Evanston, IL. Susan M. was b 7-25-57 in Evanston and died suddenly in Niles, IL 11-11-06. Fifth child Cynthia J. b 11-30-58 in Evanston. If you would like anymore info on Lillian's other descendants, let me know. Comments:	Dear Mr . Kruse: I have enjoyed your genealogy web sites. I am interested in the Lehman family as my great grandmother was Hermina Dichroff. I believe she had a brother Henry DeCrof/Dichroff that married a Minnie Lehaman. She came in 1861 and had a brother William and I think her father's name might have been William. They lived in Horicon, Dodge County about 1870-1880. The moved to Wapheton, Hansen, North Dakota about 1882. I am trying to find out Henry DeCrof's parents and where he was born. Hermina's father was William. They were both born in Saafeld, Germany but not sure of her mother. William might have been married twice. Henry was born about 1844 and Hermina 1854. There were younger siblings. I am constantly looking for some connection. I am over 75 years old and hope I can get the mystery solved. The Dichroffs were shoemakers and Hermine's husband was Carl August Meyer a brick maker. They mved from Horicon to Merrill and Hermine's brother William also moved up here. His father died in 1930, my father was only 8, and never knew his fathers family. Comments:	A real longshot, but please bear with me . . . when living in the Castlegar/Nelson, BC area in the early 1990's I was blessed with the meeting of and subsequent friendship of an incredible woman by the name Elaine L. Kruse. I left the area and came back to the Fraser Valley after college in '94-'95 and we kept in contact for a number of years thereafter . . . but in the last 5 years or so we seem to have lost one another. I am driven to re-acquaint as I miss her dearly . . . she is the one I would have married had our paths been better aligned, so to speak. Regardless of the fact we never tied nuptuals, I am still missing her ever energetic wit, wisdom and humour. I offer the following information to help identify her: As a career, she was a 'timber cruiser' for a company in the Kootenays (Nelson) area and had her private pilots licence, flight trained at Castlegar Airport. She has since married, had 2-3 children and seperated or divorced and I believe her last known whereabouts was Appledale (?). Does this person fit anyone you are related to or simply know because of your last names? They had a son named Gunther Kreuzien. Place was called Kiiskilan kyla or Karjulanmaki. He had German wife and they had children and they had a girl who was said to have played piano. He propably worked in mine. His father was Pekka Pekanpoika (Peher Pehersson)and his mother was Maija Stiina Joosepintytär (maiden name Polvi). When she was born she had the last name Kopakkala. He didn't change his name. It would have known here as well, since there has been correspondence between the years 1882 and 1907. According to a legend, he presented himself as Swedish. Comments:	Hi Fritz, My grandmother was Nellie Kruse Block who died in 1962 in Chicago. We used to go up to Michigan and stay at G.Uncle Dick's cottage. My father was Robert Block and his sisters were Dorothy and Ruth Block. My dad used to talk about Freddie Kruse and the gang from Barbaboo, WI. but I don't remember going up there. I also remember going to Great-Aunt Marie's home on Olglesby's in Chicago and a G.Aunt's home on Church Street in Chiago and a G.Aunt in Homewood in the 1960's. Great grandmother Sommer went to a Catholic boarding school in Germany, although she was Lutheran. Maybe records from the school can help you further. She was from Prussia from what I can recall Aunt Ruth telling me. I saw Crystal Muzik's message from 8/30/2002. Her father Larry Muzik is my cousin. Cass County, IL, around the Indian Creek and Arenzville area. After Hei died in a farming accident Wibkie and her 2 married sons Adolph and Henry and Phillip moved to Western Kansas and then bought land outside of Greensburg, KS. I was told they were "Black Dutch" because they were from northern Germany and were dark skinned, dark eyed Germans instead of blonde haired, blue eyed Germans. Wibkie Tholken was from Osfriesland. (I have no clue how to spell it) Her parents were Heinrichs and Rickjeta(spelled wrong by me) Tohlken, who are buried outside of Arenzville, Illinois. They are listed in the Cass County website cemetary listing. Still looking for their parents and where Hie Kruse came from

My Great-Grandfather Juergen Kruse was born 12-29-1832 in Klein Bennebeck, Schelswig-Holstein, (Denmark) Germany. He married Anna Juergens in Bourbon, Ill in 1866. His siblings are listed as Claus, Johann, Hans, Heinrich, Peter and Margaretha although the only one we have any information on is Peter who served in the Civil War with Juergen. We only know Peter moved to Nebraska with Juergen but moved to I think Valpo, Indiana after his first wife died. I would like to trace this Herbst line back to their German ancestors and I know other people already have, but I don't know where to begin. The only genealogy book on the Herbst family that I am aware of is in German! Clarence's father was Leo, his father I think was August Herbst. They are all intermarried with the Scroeders and Strubbergs of Franklin and St. Louis Counties in Missouri. I believe the story was that the father of August is the first to come to America with several brothers. Seems like they were wagon makers in St. Louis. Gerry, my husband, conveyed to me, that you would be pleased to aide me in my quest of our Family Tree; husbands side: KRUSE, SPICER, BANNATYNE/my side: METCALFE, BROWN, ROBERTSON, MARTIN, GLOAG, AUGER. I side-tracked my family lineage and got caught up in my husbands side; the Kruse. I have been quite successful, considering that I had really nothing to start with, other than my Family Bibles. I have been researching for the past five years now, but not full-time until about a year ago. I have been able to go back six generations on the Kruse side to Gerry's great grandfather, George Gotfrey Kruse, born June 6, 1832 in Petershagen(now called: Pieszkowo, Poland), Prussia, Germany; he was married to Elizabeth Trummen (Troman), born March 10, 1845 in Prussia, Germany. They immigrated to the United States in 1857 and settled in the Cass County area, Illinois. They had 11 children: John, Charles August, Mary, Henry, Anna, Dora, George, Otto Theodore, Elizabeth William and Victor Emil. Henry Theodore Kruse was Gerry's grandfather, and was born 1868 in Illinois (that is all we can find) and he died October 10, 1932 in Beardstown, Cass County, Illinois. We do not know what cemetery but he may be in any one of Beardstown City, Munro, Jockisch, or Walnut Ridge Cemeteries located in Cass County, Illinois. Henry has a sister, Anna Mae Kruse in Munro Cemetery, George Godfrey, William Kruse(s/o G & E), Elizabeth Trummen, Johan Trummen (her father) Trummen in Jochish Cemetery. KRUSE, Anna Reinola Moran (w/o G.K.) and KRUSE, George "Otto" (s/o Charles August & Christina (Brecht) KRUSE, are buried in Beardstown City Cemetery, Cass County, Illinois. Henry Theodore Kruse was married to Mary Elizabeth Spice, born 1880 in Troy, Davis County, Iowa and they had four children: Donald Justin (Cleveland Twp, Davis Cte, Iowa and Hazen were apparently born in the USA?. Their other two children; Jean and George William Kruse were born in Tuxford, Saskatchewan; however, we cannot locate a birth certificate for George William Kruse, my husbands father who was killed in 1941 in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. That is where our link is broken to present day. I cannot find anything on our generations beyond George Godfrey Kruse and his ancestors in Germany. As for my side of the family, my research takes me from British Columbia to Ontario, New Brunswick, CANADA, N.Y., USA, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Germany (Lutz). Comments:	Hello Fred, there is nothing to indicate that we are related, but my 2GGP's, Frederick GAHLBECK and Carolina BURMEISTER came from the Meck-Schwer area to Chicago in 1868. They settled at what is now 18th and South Union (on the map it looks like the Dan Ryan runs right on top of it) and attended 1st Evangelical Zion Lutheran church at 19th and Halsted. They too are buried at Concordia, with all their children and their grandaughter's husband, William PILZ. He is my GF. My GM, Ethel GAHLBECK PILZ is, I believe, buried in Florida. I liked your webste because, even though there is likely no family link, I could see a little of something that would have been very similar to my GGP's experience. You have done an absolutely amazing job. So well organized (high praise coming from a German!) and very informative. A real cut above the usual, I think. Your guestbook is also interesting and a good place for people to "meet." I particually enjoyed the entry from your father's college roomate. That's the good side of the Internet. My grandmother re-visited the Templin in 1900, and I have her diary for that trip, although details about the area are slim. If you wish, I'll email you the diary. My wife and I visited the Templin area 2 weeks ago, but did not find direct evidence of family. Do you know of a restaurant called the Knodelbaum (dumpling tree)? Kruse" born in Cleveland township Iowa. He then emigrated to Canada, probably for free Govt. land. My father was born in 1911, in Saskatchewan. He also had two other children, Hazen and Jean, they were both born before my father in 1911. My grandfather was married to Mary E. There is alot of mystery in regards to Mr. Kruse. No one knows where he came from, or when and how he traveled to the US. Family tradition is that he left home at 15. We believe that he came ashore near Miami, settled in the Jacksonville - Green Cove Springs area in Florida. He made a living as a commercial fisherman and raised 9 children with his Scottish wife, Anne. He is buried in the Green Cove Springs Cemetary, next to his son, Johnny, who died as a teenage. Was contacted years ago by Carla Trum Mercado, grandaughter of Charles Ernst Scharnberg, son of Fredrich. She has traced the Scharnberg family back to when they settled in Shelby, Texas in 1855 after leaving Germany. While vacationing at my sister's home near Houston this June, we found the Shelby Cemetery where many Scharnbergs are buried (headstones are all in German). We found Fritz, Anna, assorted offspring and Anna's mother and possible grandmother. Also found the grave of Johann Scharnberg (1800-1884). Believe he is the father of the 3 brothers who came from Mecklenburg to settle in Texas. I found your site while checking my family name online. Wouldn't be able to learn any of this w/o the internet! I will also look up the book "Germans to America" you have listed on your page. Am curious about Scharnberg or Scharenberg...the same family name possibly changed when they entered the USA (as so many were)? So many people misspelled my name as I was growing up that I wouldn't doubt that was the case. Enjoyed reading your website.

My great-grandparents, Wilhelm and Wilhelmina Kruse also emigrated with 8 of their children from Hannova, Germany to Hawaii on a ship named the Ehrenfels in the mid-1800's. Some of my ancestors were associated with those churches. There is possibly also a family connection, my forebear Joachim Peter Ross was married on 23 Oct. 1792 at Satow to Anna Maria Wendt. She was born 9 Oct. 1768 at Satow, the daughter of August Wendt and Anna Maria Godemann. These latter details were obtained from the IGI. My hometown is a Lutheran stronghold having been settled by Germans from 1842. The majority were from the Prussian provinces of Brandenburg, Posen and Silesia. I am a great-granddaughter of Conrad (Coonrod) Fulmer and Genevra (the correct spelling) Hoover. I'm 69 years old and have been working on my genealogy for five years. (Not long in genealogical terms!) I have Genevra's name on two US Federal Census and on the death certificate of her son Edward L. Fulmer, her youngest child and my grandfather. Her name was provided to the coroner by Ulysses S. Grant Hoover, one of Genevra's brothers. This was in 1914. My grandfather died at the age of thirty-five years. Altho I've seen her name spelled several places as you spell it, I believe that it is correctly spelled as her brother gave it to the coroner for Edwards' death certificate. I hope to hear from you - I guess we're some kind of shirttail relatives!! If I do not hear from you, I wish you continued good fortune with your genealogy. Thanks to you I got my uncle to open up alittle and tell my sister an I a little about my grandfather and grandmother and even managed to get a little info on ggranfather and ggrandmother. I found that my grandmathers last name is spelled Linzmeyer but my uncle is unsure if this is her married or maiden name because the two children that were rarely talked about are from her previous marriage. I also found that he fathers name is Adolph and that she had brothers Rodger and Harold. To hopefully shed some light and trace more of her roots I have sent off for a marriage lic. from he marriage to my grandfather. I also managed to get a birth year (1905) and death year (1957) so that is more than I knew. Thank you As for my grandfathers side I got my uncle to confirm all parent and sibling information and have now been able to add birth/death dates to my records for them as well.They only thing we have not figured out yet is who Rose belongs to. Comments:	I just read about your trip to Germany on the internet. It was fascinating and I enjoyed it and the pictures very much. I am trying to trace my grandparents on my mother's family side(last name Wiese)that came from Hamburg in 1866 on the John Bertram from Gaedebehn, Mechlenberg-Schwerin Germany. In America, they lived in Fond du Lac County, WI for several years, then died in the town of Forestville in Door County, WI. They were farmers and as a grandchild I grew up, until age 11, on their son, Louis Wiese's farm, in Appleton, WI. I belong to the Ancestry.com internet site, but have not been able to trace back before William, Louis'(Ludwig)father. The boat manifest listed William (Wilhelm)as coming at that time with his parents who were L.J.J. Wiese, age 73 and Marie.J.,age 65 and two brothers. The Wiese's were Evangelical Lutheran, so your new list of Evangelical churches in that area interested me as a possible way to look for more information. But I do not know how to access those church records. William or Wilhelm was 25 when he left Germany. His wife Friederike was also 25, so I am hoping there will be records to be found in one of the Lutheran churches in that area of Germany. Comments:	Dear Fritz, What a grand web site you have, and how fortunate to be able to trace your ancestors as far back as you have. I have also been attempting to trace my Ancestors in order to develop a family tree. So far on the Bender branch I have established the following: My Grandfather Georg Adam b 1861,& G Grandfather Johann Georg b 1830, emigrated from Kratzke, Saratov, Russia in 1876 to Russell, Kansas. My GG Grandfather Georg Phillipp b 1806 was born and died in Kratzke. My GGG Grandfather, Johann Christoph Bender b 1747 in Nailos, Wittenberg, Mecklenberg, Germany emigrated June 18, 1766 aboard the ship SS Deperle to Oranienburg, Russia (just above St. Petersberg), His first Port of debarcation. Then on to Kratzke in the spring of 1767. About 1830 he died in Kratzke. I have hit a stumbling block with my GGG Grandfather Johann. I have not been able to locate the town of Nailos on the map. It may not be spelled exactly right. However, all my Ancestors from Johann to the present day have been Lutheran. Therefore, he would certainly have been included in the Chuirch records of some Lutheran church in Nailos, Wittenberg. He married a young lady from a family that emigrated with him on the ship SS Deperle. He was 18,and single,she was 10 and a child at the time of departure. Her name was Anna Rosina Sommer b 1756 and would become my GGG Grandmother. She was with her parents on the trip, Johann Phillipp Sommer, and Maria Barbara Mnu. I believe, but am not certain, that they also were from Nailos. I am quite certain that they were from Mecklenburg. But, I have so far been unable to trace them to Mecklenburg in the German records, just as I have failed to do so for Johann. The Trinity Lutheran Church records in Kratzke show Johann Christoph being from Nailos, Wittenberg, The same records show Anna Rosina as being from Mecklenberg. I assume from the same home town. Wittenberg (or Nailos if it exists separate from Wittenberg). Most likely it has been absorbed. If you could give me some assistance in tracing my GGG Grandfather and GGG Grandmother, or steering me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Comments:	Thank you for your reply. I have been told the info by a family member that Maria Sievert was born near Gustrow, Germany. She had a sibling named Johannes Sievert, who came over later from the same area. These people were Lutheran. Christian Schmidt, Sr. was said to have come from Wartin but it possibly could be Warin. I have little to go on except that his father was Joachim Schmidt. With such common names how can one be certain that we have the right persons. I have searched Germans from America and have not found Maria Sievert nor Christian Schmidt,Sr. I ordered film from Gustrow and did not find Maria as of yet. Any suggestions? These people are my brick walls.

My Grandmother Rosamunda Caroline Fritz Koehler born in Mendhausen, Romhild, Sachsen Meiningen had a Uncle August Fritz who lived and farmed in Wells Mills, Richardson County, Nebraska as listed in the 1870 census. He gave his birthplace as Baden. I have heard that that is not allways the case. Sometimes the question where are you from was answered by the name of the port of departure in Germany. Comments:	Hello, I came across your site while looking up the Platt family. My 7G Grandfather was the George Andreas Platt that came over from Germany and settled in Baraboo, WI. He son Johann Georg Platt (George) who died in California is mine line. His wife’s name was Lucy (?) and they had the children listed and one more. Their daughter Sarah married George W. Steventon and had 4 children. Their daughter Lucy married Gordon Smart and had two daughters. Their oldest daughter Florence married Arthur Weaver and had my mom. I tried to find your connection to the Platt family as I would like more information about them. I so enjoyed all the love and dedication you put into your work! My research started over coffee with a friend this Christmas. She had just watched Lawrence of Arabia and was telling me about it. I told her that my family myth was that we were somehow related to him. This started my search- (which I think is the Smart line). The Platt family is only one of the lines that I am looking into. Comments:	You are not going to believe this but my husband and I recently bought the home that John and Libertha(Beck)Wedig built in 1894. The home is the place your Great Grandma Libertha Freiburg grew up in after her mother Rosa passed away. We have a short book written by Mata Roman Friend (daughter of Augusta and Walter Roman)which is called "Fond Rememberance" it tells mostly of her memories as a child here at the house. We have some of the history on the home and have been looking for more that is how I came across your web site. The home is located in Granite City IL, just right across the river from St Louis, MO. It is a large home with 5 bedrooms and many other rooms, the home is in need of many repairs but is still wonderful. We hope to restore it to the best of our ability.
