Daughter of William Bryant Clements Jr. who was born in Va. Have only gotten back a couple of generations on him. Seems hard to trace. Looks like a few generations back may have been farmers. The Indenture dated 13 Feb 1826 in Spencer Co KY, do you have any more information on this document? I have guardianship records in Spencer Co all for William deceased which tie into this indenture. These guardianship records state the children are from William deceased and contain the same date of 10 Oct 1825 as in the indenture. Henry Pool later settled in Daviess Co KY. (Children: Treasy, Mary E., Ann, Catherine, Charles Overton, John, Anthony Hardy) My John Thomas followed him there after 1850. I believe this family originated in Charles Co MD. William was of Bennett Hanson Clements Jr., etc. Thank you.

I, Betsy Clements Collins, am a descendant of a Woodson Clements, son of a William Clements and an Elizabeth Daniel, probably of North Carolina or South Carolina (Woodson died in 1837 and was born in 1784; married in 1805)(according to the family records). I am named for Woodson's dau (with wife Kesiah/Keziah/Kessiah/Kesirah Duskin) Elizabeth ('Grandmother Betsy') Daniel Clements b. 1824, d. 1892. (m. 1840 to Wesley Thomas Jones). Their daughter Melinda/Malinda Helen/Hellen Jones is mother of my grandmother, Texana Ora Alice Branch Collins Alford (nee Branch). Maybe I am connected to the same William you are. Maybe not.

If anyone is interested, I do have a family Bible with some Clements family listed (records seem to be written at first by Anderson Kader Clements).

This is a belated thanks to many of you who helped me over the last several years. I finally was able to make the connection through the generations to join the Daughters of the American Revolution. I used Susanna my ggggg gm as my patriot.

The final documentation came from a certified genealogist that I found through the website of the Library of VA at Richmond. She was able to find a probate record in Harrison CO, KY where my gggg gf Benjamin Jr (son of Ben Sr.) died without a will. In a deed book 5, p148, 15 Sept 1815, three sons of Ben Jr were named:James (my ggg gf), John, Isaac and what looks like a son-in-law William G(S?)lade and wife M(W?)ine.

So if anyone else needs this documentation, I would be happy to pass it on.

Also, the DNAfamilytree.com Clemens site is very interesting.

I am working on DAR documentation for Susannah Hill Clement's line, a documented patriot. She is my ggggg gm.
Her son Ben Jr (wife Sarah, first of two) gggg gf,
his son James (wife Mary Van Horn, first of four) ggg gf, his daughter Elizabeth Martin gg gm,
her daughter Rebecca Stevens my great gm,
her son Francis Stevens gf,
his daughter Alberta Stevens my birthmother.

Does anyone have more info on Ben Jr (1735-1813) and his son James (1789-1873)? I did find some in the documentation index.

Also, besides the lost Orr bible, is there any complete list of Ben Sr and Susannah's children?

My mother was Katie Lee (Clement) McMurrey. She researched Clement family history for thirty years. I have all of her Clement records tracing my "roots" directly to William
Clement. She used Maude Carter Clement's book, to research most of my Clement line.

My mother was trying to trace William's ancestors back to England, and had several possible names of his parents, and grandparents. (But none verified.)

Was William Clement's wife named Ann Taylor?

Ruth Lucy Clements married a William Johnson in IL, their child Miles married Sarah Braten of IL, their child Gertie married U. S. Lansaw, their child Gladys married a Mr Summers (still working on this one) and produced my mother Constance Loraine Summers. My data supposes that Clements go back to Geoffery Clements of jolly olde england b. abt 1859 and dying sometime in 1609 in Oxford. Just stuff I gathered, willing to exchange notes and ideas. Benjamin Franklin Clements, b. 1840/1841, not validated where. On the 1870 Augusta County census with wife Nancy and 3 children, Willie J., Thomas S. and Edward J. On the 1880 Kanawha County, West Virginia census with same wife and children. He is a mystery and I have not been able to connect him to any Clements in Virginia. He states on census that he was born in Virginia as were his parents. It has been reported, but not verified, that his wife was Nancy Elizabeth Vines, b. 1847, Virginia. On the 1870 census, a Charles D. Hawes, age 10 was living with them. On the 1880 census, a John Hawes, age 24, was living with them. I need help. Your website is extremely informative. Wish for a connection.

Adams on my Mother's side. In Greenville Co., VA marriage records show Elizabeth Clements married Wm Penn Adams. Census shows her birth at approx. 1774 in VA., Martha Clements her Bondsmen (?)at her marriage. She passed away in Estill Co.KY in or after 1850. Thru family "stories" her father died prior to her marriage. No mention of her parents names. I searching. Is it possible that she is related to this Clements Family? I have found the name Pigg ,marriages to family members thru out. One other Clements married into the Adams family. I do not know the parents of Wm. Penn Adams born 1771 in VA.

I am not very good at genealogy research I just started looking for anyone who has ties to my earliest Ford member,
John Shepherd Ford, born Charlotte County, VA 1802. Can't locate anything on parents or siblings. Very frustrating but your website gives me encouragement in that it shows different resources that can be tapped for bits of information. I thought there may be some ties to your Hezekiah Ford but it is hard to determine.

I lived in Hurt, Va for half of my childhood and never noticed Clement Hill until after I had moved across the river to Altavista. During my 8th grade english class we had to research a building or home in the area and I choose Clement Hill. After graduating high school, I decided to major in Historic Preservation and one of the papers that I worked on concerned the Clement Hill. I have amassed quite a large amount of information about the home and the area, along with the pictures of the home and property that I took myself. I would be glad to send yall anything I have done so far, if you would like. Lastly I just wanted to say this is such a great site :) ~TMR

Great-Great grandfather was James C. Clement born in Shelby, KY 1807. Great Grandfather was James Issac Clement born in Pike County, Missouri 1846. Trying to find out if William is an ancestor. Seems like a match, but since James Clement (married to Martha) died before 1780, then James C can not be his son. Maybe the son of Isham, Vachel, Webster, Benjamin or James (married to Patsy Gilbert).

Comments:
My connection is: Rhonda Heidtbrink-Chilton (biological father's name: Snell), dau. of Donna Hook, dau. of Frances "Ruth" Owen, dau. of Riley Owen, son of Emma Lee Smith, dau. of Mariah Henry Coleman, dau. of Elizabeth Booker Clement, dau of Isham Clement, who was born Feb 6, 1781, in Amelia Co., VA, and married to Sarah "Sallie" C. Rudd abt. Feb 24, 1804, in Prince Edward Co., VA. Presumably, Isham Clement is son of Isham Clement married to Sarah Scott on 27 November, 1760; this Isham Clement is son of William Clement Jr, son of William Clement, Sr.

Great website. By the way, I have documentation for the Isham Clement Jr. line (if indeed the connection to the other Isham Clement is accurate) that I would be glad to share with you, if you are interested.
I apologize for the multiple entries -- the "connection" section was cut off.

Your connection to William CLEMENT (d. 1760) Possible brother to my Simon Clement, son of John and Isabelle
Comments:
John Clement, yeoman, St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co. VA, left a will 1749 naming his wife, Isabell, sons John Clement and his relict Mary, Stephen Clement and his relict Elizabeth, William, and Simon. The widows and William each received one shilling. Presumedly these sons were already established and/or has previously received gifts from their father's estate. Simon was bequeathed the land and the rest of the estate on the death of his mother. Either Simon [born circa 1720]was the oldest or the youngest. Under the laws of primogeniture, the oldest son inherited the land. Simon may have been the youngest and inherited the land, as his brothers were already established elsewhere.

Simon moved to Amelia County and settled southeast of Clement town on May's branch of Flat Creek on the land he bought of Samuel Cobb's widow, Edith. Simon's close neighbors were John Thorp, Joseph Gooch, John Pride, John Drinkwater, Henry Farley, Benjamin Lockett, Philip Jones, William Sisemore, William Ford, Josiah and Francis Jackson according to Amelia Col VA Deed Book 7. Simon was a member of the Presbyterian congregation that met on Robert Vaughn's land, Raleigh Parish, Amelia Co.

He further migrates to Granville Co. NC. His children, by his first wife Susannah, migrate to other counties in NC and to SC. Their children's names include: Obediah, Zephaniah, Stephen, Simon, John, Sarah, Anne, Samuel, Susannah. Children by his second wife, Mary Pridham Wright are: William, Simeon, Anthony, Isabell, Mary. Simon died in Granville Co. NC in 1800.

My Clements line came to Ray, County, MO around the 1820's. My ggrandfather was Joshua Clements, b. abt 1801, in VA, m. Mariah (Hardwick) Cooley in 1834. Other Clements, present in records of the same time frame, include Gustavus & Wyatt--whom I believe were brothers or cousins. The Clements family, in MO, was closely associated with the Offutts of Logan County, KY. I trying, not too successfully, to trace the family roots in VA via records. Any insights that you could provide, would be greatly appreciated.
