My father is Joseph Harvey Jones, born 3/7/1945. His father was Ferman Lee Jones (possibly Furman?) and his mother was Lillian Moody Jones. I know that both of my grandparents as well as other members of the family (Aunts and Uncles I think, my records are packed up at the moment)are buried in Canton. My father told me that he and his parents lived in Waynesville during his early years before moving to Asheville. We visited the area in 2004 and since then I have been interested in the history of the family. I know that Jones is an extremely common name but I would be interested to know if there are any records of my grandparents and their ancestors. I'm afraid I don't even know how long they lived in Haywood County or if they were even born there. This is simply the starting place for my search. Thank You

I'm researching my ancestor Joseph Henry Collins, born 9 Mar 1817, married Sarah Sherrill abt 1843 in Hawyard, NC. Joseph Henry Collins died in the Sultana tragedy on the Mississipi River 27 April 1865. There is plenty to be found on his death, not so much on his birth. If anyone could provide his parentage or at least an accurate place of birth it would help me and my family greatly. Thank you!

I am currently looking for information on the death of Earl Warren on 26 Dec 1969 in Waynesville. I have a digital copy of the death certificate. It was ruled a homicide by his father-in-law. I would like to find a newspaper article about the murder and an obituary if possible. There would have been legal proceedings as well. I live in Vancouver, WA and so it is not possible for me to come there. Would anyone be able to help me locate this information?
