Always glad to see our history is alive through sites like this, and hope those who share and seek family history might find possible connections for trading information.

Some Archuleta County branching-names are:

Selby, Peterson, Bennett, Chowling, Hicks, Gibson, Himes, Jones, Lattin

These are in addition to my main family-tree of prior message dated 05 Feb 2012.

Looking forward to learning more from others and sharing what I know of our family history, Lynn

I would like to thank you for posting the photo of the Civil War veterans. My great-great grandfather's youngest brother James Waber is 7th from left. He enlisted in the 11th Michigan Cavalry at the ripe old age of 15 and was taken prisoner in Pendleton, SC and spent several months in a Confederate POW camp at the tail end of the war bef. being freed and he was medically discharged shortly thereafter in Memphis, TN.

Anyways, I tried emailing you but it bounced back. I am wondering if you had a larger version of this image. Also, I would be very interested in any sort of local GAR records.

Browsing through the 1901 England and Wales census, I came across the entry:

Esther Ostrand
25 born in Sweeden [their spelling!] Swedish Subject living in London Stoke Newington occupation: Student Medical

On a whim, I entered her name on google and found the name on your website - I wondered if by chance I have found something of interest to you - or it is an entirely different person [very likely!].

I have not followed your entry through, to check.

I am in no way related - it was just a serendiptious happening!

I am trying to obtain a birth certificate for my mother, Francisca Adelina Moreno (name at birth) but have been unsuccessful in getting anyone to respond. I wrote to Denver but they do not have records. She was born in Pagosa to the best of my knowledge.

I have a copy of her marriage certificate signed by the County Clerk and recorder Felina Gardner on October 15, 1934. She married J.N. Chavez Jr. on October 3, 1934.

I need a birth certificate for some legal matters that are pending. I wrote to Denver but they have no records. She was probably born at home.

Do you have any idea who I could contact?

I would be eternally grateful for any information you can provide.

Thank you,

Aurelia F. Perez

I am a relative of EPHRAIM KELLY CALDWELL and have gained a wealth of information about his life, as well as some new things to research. The picture of the Civil War Veterans nearly brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful discovery! I have E.K.'s Civil War files if anyone is interested in their contents. It is a thick packet of information, but I could probably condense it if necessary. Thank you again for making my day!

I am searching for information on my Grandfather, James N. Langworthy, his brother, Elton C. Langworthy, and my Great-Grandmother, Mary O. Langworthy who lived in the Pagosa Springs area in about 1905. I believe James left Pagosa Springs in about 1906 and do not know when the others left or when they arrived in Archuleta County. James was a rancher, and his mother lived in town. James and Elton were Spanish-American war veterans. Mary died in Westcliffe in 1918.

My brother happened upon this website while searching for information re: our father's step-father and step-grandfather. Both of these gentleman were fairly prominent citizens of Pagosa Springs in the early thirties. Andy W. Joy who died in 1936, was active in town and county politics and his father, J. B. Joy, owned a grocery store in town. I was born in Pagosa in 1935. Your site is a true goldmine of information! Please keep up the good work!

Your efforts are awesome and greatly appreciated. I live in California and it is tough to find information on my ancestors. I am a descendent of Jose Benedito and Maria Liberta Martinez, parents of Jose Teofilo married to Maria Manuelita, parents to Julian Teofilo married to Marguerite Carolyn Cato, parents to my father Joseph Hugh Martinez, Sr.

Searching for family history on Elias and Charlotte Peterson who lived in Chromo and Pagosa Springs between 1901 and about 1918. One of their sons was Theofil A. Peterson, perhaps known as TV who continued to live in the area the rest of his live until 1965.

I've just begun researching my ties to this family. My dad gave me a coat of arms as a child and told me of our relation to Archuleta county. He passed away without leaving much information, so I am having a difficult time.
