Great site. I am looking for males in the male line of decendents of Lucious Pope Liles who was a brother to my GG Grandfather John James Liles as I am the administrator of the Liles/Liles DNA project at Family Tree DNA and would like them to test to compare with my dna sequence. If you know of any, please forward my contact information to them. Thanks. Also, I have information further back than you have on your site for Liles should you need it.

I noticed there hasn't been much activity on this account in a while, but I have been trying to correct an error in the listing of my father. He didn't die living in Lake Panasoffkee, FL and he was never married to a woman named Marjorie. I think someone mixed up my father, James A. Lee Collum, (born) 1/1/1920 with another James Collum. Having looked through the descendant list, the name is pretty common. I would love to give the correct information about my mother and all my father's decendants if someone would contact me at lynncollum@aol.com.
Thanks, Jerry Collum Smith

Hi. I just visited your site by searching my own name and found it very interesting. Couldn't find my family in there though. Wondered if you could have some info on finding my roots. I heard my grandfather came from somewhere in North Carolina and was related to a former governor of the state. Apparently the Woodall family had large land holdings there too. Then my grandfather migrated to Breaux Bridge, La. as a trapper and fisherman. He eventually came to Amite County and settled near Liberty,Ms. From there my father, now deceased Willie Clifton Woodall, and I Perry Woodall live here near Magnolia. My grandfather's name was Benjamin Crawford Woodall and he was married to Margaret Honea. There are mechanics and blacksmiths in my family. It seems our Woodall family roots are all country folk as is the case here today. Also my family is white caucasian since I don't know who I'm writing to I thought I would mention that if I'm barking up the wrong tree. Let me know if you can have some insight or steer me in the right direction. I have plenty of time now to research. Thanks very much. PLW.

After looking a several pages on your website and just hitting the tip of the ice burge I'm afraid I have seen that we may be kin in several different ways. I find one of the pictures you have very interesing as two of the children in the picture are named after two of my grandfathers Littleton Meeks and James Anderson.
Please email me at AmyMcC25@aol.com I would love to see what kind of tangles we can untangle...lol

Hi,
I found your website because I was interested in Deforrest Allgood Owens, found here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~morganandrelatedfamilies/families/coffer.htm

He was "Paw Paw Owens" to our family, and I thought his name was Foster, although I remember vaguely that Foster was a nickname.

When I was born in June 1954, our family rented an apartment in his large Victorian home in Cave Spring, Georgia. By that time, he was married to "Granny Owens," whose name was Cora. I do not know her maiden name. Our family lived in that apartment until 1958, I believe, but we stayed in close touch with Paw Paw and Granny until they passed away, Paw Paw in 1959, and Granny in 1965. I think they are both buried in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Rome, Georgia.

I did not realize Paw Paw was married once before, but I remember Jim (James Scott) Owens and Bill (William Hunt) and Mozelle Owens, in particular. I attended school with Wanda Faye, Bobby Gene and Janice Lucille, Jim's children.

Paw Paw and Granny had children together, as well. I remember Joe and Betty, and I think they had a son named David. Joe married Alice (I don't know her maiden name), and the last I heard, they live in Rome, Georgia. Betty married Bill Loadholtz and the last I was in touch, (in the early 70's) they lived in Jacksonville, Florida.

I carry warm, fond memories of Paw Paw and Granny. A number of years ago, I took a tour of the old Victorian home we shared with them.

This is probably an area you're not really exploring, but I am positive these people are members of Deforrest Allgood Owens' family.

Thanks, Mary, for maintaing this site for so many families to share notes. My great aunt died last Tuesday and I wanted to share with the Collum family:

Lois Vivian Collum Pruett died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born April 3, 1914 in Snyder, Texas, the 6th child of Robert William Collum and Ida Ann Jones. Shortly after her birth the family filed a homestead near Lovington in Lea County, New Mexico, where she grew up. Always a bright and feisty child, she thrived on the Collum Ranch, working hard and attending school. She graduated from Lovington High in 1930 at age 16.
On April 24, 1932 she married Benjamin Jess Pruett in Eddy County, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1980.
She is survived by too many loving family members to mention, but the most important are her daughter, Deborah Dale Pruett Young, son-in-law James Young, and granddaughter Kimberlee Marshall.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 6th at West End Cemetery in Stephenville, Texas where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Jess.

Just wanted to let you know that you have a great website here. I found a lot of useful information to connect to my family tree; especially the Woodalls. Thanks for your time and effort in posting all of this! I would like to share with you some info on Anderson Woodall, son of James Sampson Woodall Jr. and Ellender DeBoe. He was my 3rd Great Grandfather and my grandmother had written down before she died that he was married to Jemira (Maury) Ann Hill. According to the 1900 census, he was b. Oct. 1826 and his wife Jemira was b. Nov. 1830. The Oscar H. was my great Grandfather and Anderson's Grandson. You may already have this info somewhere but if not, I thought you might want to add it. I had never heard of Anderson being married to anyone other than Maury Hill so I was a little surprised to see him being married to someone else. Anyway, thanks again for the great descendant story!

I found your site at rootsweb, and have been trying to find info on your #167.] Salatheil Woodall 7th gen/ and his second wife that I found on the census in 1900, San Marcos Twp, Hays County, Texas.. Lucy T. Brownley is
in her father's bible at the VSL death: Lucy T. Woodall Sept 26, 1902. When I scrolled 1900 for her I found her as second wife of S. Woodall, and recently came across this Salatheil in the same area, son was living
with them in 1900. It fit,- her sister was SarahAlice Duval Brownley who m Roger Atkinson and moved to Texas-she died in Dewitt County. Lucy is the sister of my great grandfather. She was born in "Eastern View"
, Newtown, King & Queen County, Virginia and after her father Joseph Temple Brownley died her mother Mary Catherine Howerton Brownley opened up a
school, which Lucy taught at and they recently added this small log
structure to the museum of King & Queen County, Virginia Historical Society.
Most people at the historical society thought she died c. 1900, a spinster.
Then I came across her father's bible with her death date & last name of
Woodall, I have had a very difficult time tracing her ancestry since King &
Queen was a burned county from the civil war. Hoped her new " Family"
might have info on her...
Thanks, I enjoyed your site, and it gave me a good idea of her husband's
line.. when I emailed you at : chrkee44@bellsouth. net it failed.

Susan Brownley Hannah

I am searching my Collum family and have hit a brick wall. Maybe you can help. My grandfather, Edward Collum was born in 1914. He married Louella Frances Kinard and they had two children Sara Frances and Carolyn Jean. I believe they were married in Montgomery, AL. They divorced soon after the children were born. I heard he remarried but have no info to back it up. I also think that Edward had a sister named Peggy. My mom thinks they called his father Shorty. I did hear that Edward was in prison for stealing, but where and I when is unsure.
I hope that you can help me find my family.

Hi Mary,

Very nice site. Thanks for sharing your research with us all. On the Gunter line, Joshua Gutnter and Keziah, are my gggg-grandparents. Able was Zimri Gunter's father, and Zimri was my g-grandmother's [Allie (Gunter) Blackwell] father. Able is not Joshua's grandchild. Perhaps if you go to Gunter Family web-site [specifically for information and trees for the decendants of Joshua Gunter], it will help you. The information is from many years of Gunter research by L.H. Buff, who authored of the Gunter family story/research book "Gunters Along the Edisto." It's about the descendants of Russel Gunter; the single most important book about the line of "Joshua Gunter" written. Unfortunately, L.H.'s book is now out of print, but you can contact L.H. from the site if you have research issues and updates. It will help you complete your tree, I'm sure.

Hope I have helped you. Best wishes from a very distant cousin.

So, Rachel (grandma) and Anne were married to brothers. My grandpa was Albert Thomas Tabor. They were married not long after the Morgan's moved to TX. If you have any ideas on how to look further into the Tabor's I'd appreciate your help. Is there any info where you can look a specific family name that may have a website up? I'd like to look for the Pryors.
Thanks! Many hugs!
Melinda

Mary - this is great! You've done a wonderful job & so much information - will let my sister Vivian know the address so she can see it also. I would really like to thank you for all the time you have put into this - it's really nice to be able to find my lost Morgan family, It has meant a lot to my mom to know here twin sister is still alive.
