Whilst I agree that you will be very unlikely to be able to link your family to the Somerset Newmans using records, have you considered DNA? There are a number of Newmans based in the US who have joined this initiative. I am descended from the Irish Newmans who originated from Somerset and my DNA has just been profiled. Just a thought. If anyone has any further information I would be very pleased to hear from them.

Searching for members of Walker Family all born in Aldeburgh Suffolk.I have a letter from my GG uncle Sir Edward Daniel Walker (Picture in Vanity Fair 1907) written to my GGF Edward Robinson Walker regarding family history. He mentions his (writers) GGF Daniel Walker a sea Captain in the Navy and his eldest son Daniel (writers GF) who was also connected with the sea and died in service of HM Excise. Also mentions his father Edward Daniel Walker and his sisters Elizabeth and Amy and brother James. I have a photo of James with a telescope so he may be nautical. Sir Edward says that he also himself had sisters and brother born in Aldeburgh but does not say if he himself was born there. All this could fit with Walker members mentioned on Aldburgh site here but so many daniels v. difficult to sort out. Some names match but some do not but may be in other areas. Is anybody else searching for this family line and does anybody have information which may make it clearer who is who. Thanks for the site all very interesting and may have found my relatives. Have only recently found letter and photos in posessions of late Aunt who knew more information but did not pass it on.

Found this link on a Suffolk names website! Having been brought up in Highgate (well, Parliament Hill Fields actually), I have very many memories of the Heath and Hampstead. As a teenager back in the 1960s I used to walk across the Heath for the coffee bars as there weren't any in Highgate Village at the time!! Then I used to walk back again, in the dark and never felt unsafe! I don't think I'd walk across the Heath alone in the daytime now, never mind at night! I well remember the day my Dad took me to the top of Parliament Hill after the Clean Air Act (? no more peasoupers!) and you could see right over the city to the radio mast at Sydenham Hill. Very exciting!
We had our wedding reception at Jack Straw's Castle in October 1966, but I gather it has now gone and been replaced by flats. What a terrible shame. I remember it in it's old incarnation when Dad walked me over the heath on Sunday afternoons to have donkey rides and watch Punch and Judy on the West (I think) side of the pond, or to the fair in the Vale of Health.
Your paintings are very evocative and I much enjoyed looking at them. Thank you.

Hi Lindy, just was checking your website in case you had anything "new". Noted that you have Michael's wife as Ann...it's actually Sarah...you might want to change that in case someone else looks and gets confused. I'm spending time this week on this family...there were actually 2 Charles Dukelow's and likely they were cousins...it's just determining which was the brother to Michael, James, etc. I'm hoping to find an obit for the Charles who is not "yours" that may help determine. I've thought that your Charles is cousin to Michael and the others, but I'm not totally sure. Will let you know if I am able to determine. Anyway, your Charles father is either Peter (if he is brother to James) of likely his father is John with wife Elizabeth. Hope you keep well.

By coincidence I was researching the Kingston family yesterday. I am looking for (?Howard) Kingston (b c1880) m. Eliza B. Henderson (b Feb 14, 1884), dau of Adam Henderson & Rebecca McQuade of Edwardsburg. She was sister of Wilfred Henderson (1892) m. my Aunt Jean (Sarah Jean Perry), dau of Hugh Perry & Mary Gray of Edwardsburg. They moved away but family visited. In the photos there are 4 children, boy (b c1908); girl (b c1910); girl (b c1912); Wilfred (b c1916). As the names 'Daisy' & 'Harper' occur in Aunt Jean's photos, both names of children of William & Elizabeth Kingston wondered if he was from that family. This William Kingston (b Jan 21, 1850, Edw) was the son of William (b Jan 10, 1818, Ireland) & Jane (b Mar 1, 1824, Ont).

Thankyou for providing this site. I found it very helpful. I am looking for the 1775 baptism of William JOLLY, son of James, who married Martha JENNINGS in Wickham Market in 1803. William may have been born in Laxfield or Mendlesham as both places have a William born in 1775 to James JOLLY. Martha was the daughter of James JENNINGS and Martha PETTIT married in Framsden in 1770 and living in Earl Soham and Monk Soham. If anyone has any information about these people please contact me.

Hello: I am new to genealogy searching and was impressed by your family tree. I have been searching for information on my grandmother, Mary Agnes Walker, born in Carlisle, England on or about 20 Nov. 1879 and searched your tree without luck. I am retired which has allowed me to spent a great deal of time on this effort-so far without luck. All I know is that her mother's maiden name was probably Mackenzie and she married Joseph Holt in Ashton Under Lyne on 13 Feb, 1903 and had a child, Ivy Holt on 1 July, 1903.

I found your website quite by chance, and was amazed to find a wedding invitation that my mother received before she was married, to her cousin's wedding! I then found all sorts of interesting information on my maternal grandmother's siblings and their spouses and offspring. She was called Emily Martin (nee Waller). However, I have been thrown into confusion because I believed her own mother (my mother's mother's mother) was called Emily Hurlock (who married Chas Williams), but according to the info on your site, she was Emily White, who was the sister of TH White (married to a sister of the aforementioned Emily Hurlock). I can't see how both facts could be true. My late mother also corresponded with her own cousin Myrta, who now might be a Waller or might be a Parnell? Most of my information before reading your site came from odd notes from my mother Iris and also from a man called Edgar White (son of TH White) who wrote extensive and interesting notes on his family before he died. Incidentally, the above-mentioned Emily Hurlock was the aunt of William Hurlock, who made the famous Cobra cars. Any photos or memorabilia of my family would interest me greatly, as it is my intention to make a web site, with photos, letters and family trees, so that the information I collect can be shared.

The John Welton who married Jemimiah Smith on 4/4/1745 I'm sure are on my tree. The Edward Smith who married Mary Ford on Sept 29/1739 looks very familiar, I'll have to unroll the tree! And there is a good possibility the Thomas Smithe of Ipswich who was found frozen to death is also related.

Ellen Panter married Titus Coe in 1872 in Kettering. Their children are as follows: Lucy D. Coe, Rose Edith Coe, Mark Coe, William Maurice Morris Coe , May Coe, Edgar Coe and Henry Coe. There could be others....
If I could find out who Ellen Panter and Titus Coe's parents are, I am sure we are close to a connection.
William Maurice Morris Coe is my great grand father.

1) Title. There really is not a title that I know of, It was a personalized oil painting for my Dad of my dad, He is nealing down in front of his airplane. I believe it's a Ryan trainer.
2) Year of production was 1977.
3) The size is 27.5 inches long by 21.5 inches high.
4) Medium ????????
5) Subject / description. My father in front of his Ryan Trainer. He survived two tours in Vietnam and thats where he learned to fly. Bought plane after he came home. The oil painting was from a 35mm picture taken at an airport in southern Calif. He was a friend of Matt Andes and still paid over 800.00 for it.
6) Pictures attached
My father had given me the picture for a christmas present in 1977.
Artist was Matt Andes or Matthew Andes, Matt was a musician who played in many 1960s and 1970s rock and roll bands with his more popular brother Mark Andes.

My ancestors originated in Grantham (as far as I have been able to go back anyway !), but my gt gt g'father & gt g'father moved to Worksop. My g'father & father subsequently moved to North Warwickshire. Would be interested if anyone has any information about the LOCKTON family tree, especially if back to the 16th & 17th centuries. Note - I have come across a Sir John Locton, who died in Grantham in 1610, but have not been able to prove the link.

Walkers of Berrien County,Niles, Michigan tracing back to:
William Walker (1700's), a native of England, served in the British army during the Revolutionary War under the Duke of Wellington, as was traditional. Walker was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown at the close of the war.
Joseph Walker (1791-92/1868)
Joseph Walker (1791-92/1868) was the son of William. He emigrated to America when a young man and married Catherine (Sheridan) Walker, a native of Ireland who was brought to America as a child. After his marriage, Joseph Walker settled in Huron County, remaining less than one year; he then moved to Niles, Michigan in Berrien County, and settled on a farm, there passing the remainder of his days. He died in 1868; his wife who survived him, occupied the old homestead in Michigan. She was the mother of ten children; five sons and five daughters. Descendants are still living in this area near the small country churchyard where Joseph and Catherine (1808-1904) are buried.
William Walker (1834-1899)
William Walker (1834-1899) settled in Audubon County around 1855. He was born in Huron County, Ohio, March 2, 1834, the son of Joseph and Catherine. William spent his youth on his father's farm, where his services were usually in demand, as he was the oldest son. He received the advantage of a district-school education, and at the age of twenty-one years he forsook his ancestral roof and went to make his fortune in the far west, as Iowa was then considered. He pre-empted 160 acres of land in Audubon County and entered 200 acres at $1.25 per acre; this secured to him a home which he began to improve as his means would allow

Hi!
Very, very interesting website!
My grandmother was Maggie Roycroft, born 1861, immigrated to NY in 1887 and then to Chicago shortly after that, where she settled, and my great-grandfather was James Roycroft, born abt. 1830. He was married to Eliza Connell of Aughadown parish, townland of Prohoness, born 1836. They had a farm at Dunkelly, Goleen, on the Mizen peninsula, and his father at Kilpatrick. There were Kingston's. Love's and Sweetman's also related to our Roycroft's and I think I have a marriage document with a Newman signature or name.
Would you have any information at all, no matter how brief, on the James Roycroft family? He was mentioned in the book, "Northside of the Mizen."
Thank you.

Hi
Just to let you know I have the 1st world war medals for William Talbot Lockton who was born in Grantham Lincolnshire. I also have his death plaque as he was killed in action serving in the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. He must be a relation of yours. I have the complete (fairly) family tree for the Lockton family of Hinckley in Leicesterhire and their Leicester branch from around 1680 to date.
Our family originated in Lockton, Yorkshire and the early Medieval records are preserved in York.
One Lockton was the Mayor of Nottingham in 1471. Others were the Kings Justices in Yorkshire in the 13th Century. One of my relatives was a freeman of the City of Leicester in 1373.
Kind regards

I found your web site today and found it to be very interesting. In tracing my ancestors from County Cork, Ireland I visited the Newmans in Schull. They were tremendous people although sadly to say there is no family conection. The Schull Newmans came over from England in the latter part of the 19th Century while my family left Ireland in the 1830 and 1840 for St. John New Brunswick. Later they migrated to Woodsstock and then to Orono, Maine. The Civil War wiped out most of the male members of the family but the children survived. I visited Jeremiah Newman, Bishop of Limerick several times before he passed away ands discussed the Newman origin in Ireland. He did not know any information beyond his great-grandfather.
I find your web site interesting because the names of Sarah, John, James, William, etc also appear in out family lines.
I know very little about my Irish ancestors. There were four family members that migrated to St. John, New Brunswick in the 1840s. James, Denis, Patrick, and Ann. I believe that they came from County Cork or Limerick but I don't know. I have hit a stone wall.
Enjoyed your site. Regards, William Newman
