Hi, Seeking to contact family members/decendants of Herbert and Louisa STUNELL. Married 1905 in Croydon, Surrey, ENG and sailed for Canada 1911. They had 4 children, and were living in Etobicoke 1911-1980. Name: Deborah Scott <email@example.com> Date: 2012-04-22 Surname Interests Scott-Porteous-Murray-McLean Places Mimico, Etobicoke Comments:
Some of my ancestors on my father's side were from Mimico:
George Scott, 1804-1879, born Ecclefechan,Scotland married Margaret Porteous,1810 - ?, born Mile Path, Middlebie, Scotland. My father said they came to Mimico in 1848.
James Murray (1800-1855) married Catherine McLean (1806-1892). The Murrays came from Perth, Scotland in about 1840. Catherine's father had mills on the Humber River around 1785-1800. Her brother was the Indian Agent for the area and married an Indian. My father said that the McLean were United Empire Loyalists and came up from the States, but I haven't been able to verify this.
I would like to find out more about James & Catherine Murray's 9 girls and 1 son.
Name: Margaret Arthur <firstname.lastname@example.org> Date: 2012-04-16 Surname Interests Bryans, Brynes, Bryns Places Etobicoke, Co. Fermanagh Comments:
Brothers James and John Bryans settled in Chinguacousie and Etobicoke respectively. John was a cooper. He married Ann Jane Noble, and I believe he was in the coopering business with the Noble family. John had a slew of children--four of which survived to majority. James was a farmer. He was married to Ann Cody and had two daughters. I am interested to know where the brothers come from in Ireland. Fermanagh is really just a SWAG. Any information beyond what I've seen in the censuses will be gratefully accepted.
Name: Audrey Winch <email@example.com> Date: 2011-12-26 Surname Interests O'Reilly (O'Rilly, Riely, etc.) Places Etobicoke, Ennismore ON, Co. Cavan, Ireland Comments:
January 23, 1845, Michael O'Rielly of the Township of Etobicoke in the Home District, Yeoman, executed a Deed (signed by Thomas O'Rilly, "his atty"--and father--my ggg-grandfather)to purchase land in Ennismore, ON. I would like to find their location and activities in Etobicoke, and trace backwards.
Prior to 1845, the oral history has them immigrating from Co. Cavan, Ireland ~1820, and operating transport (wagon, stagecoach?) to/from Toronto. Maybe they stopped at Montgomery's! Any suggestions for local Etobicoke records to search most appreciated. Thank you.

Name: Lynda Hirst <email@example.com> Date: 2010-02-14 Surname Interests LAWRENCE Places Etobicoke Comments:
Basically I am looking for help regarding my gr-uncle Thomas W C LAWRENCE and any descendants.
Tom was born in Wales in 1913 and was a Home Child arriving in Canada, aged 15, in 1929 aboard the SS Pennland.
I have been able to track his departure/arrival records into Canada via Ancestry but then the trail goes cold.
My mother Dorothy is his niece and she has always wondered about him - we emigrated to Australia in 1963 so never had any opportunity to know this side of my family.
Oral family history tells that he and his wife [name unknown by my mother], visited Swansea, Wales circa 1967 and I have a photocopy of a photo taken at that time in Swansea but that sadly, on their return to Canada, my gr-uncle Tom drowned in a boating accident on a lake.
Unfortunately, we have no further details of which lake [!], or exactly which year and only know that the drowning occurred shortly after they returned to Canada -- this would make it sometime in 1967-1968 but of course, those dates could be completely wrong.
I have recently discovered from an Uncle whom I have re-connected with, that gr-Uncle Tom married and had a daughter Margaret (surname is/was Margaret Cherry) who lives/lived in Etobicoke hence my approaching you in case anyone is able to help me discover some details.
My mother is getting on in years and would dearly love to know what happened to Uncle Tom and I of course, would be thrilled to make contact with any living relatives.
Hopefully, someone may know something that would help me make contact.

As I'm living in England it's a bit difficult to carry on 'local research'! Has anyone any information about the following family ?
My great grandfather, John George Dixon, moved to Toronto in 1905 with his wife Florence and two children Jack and Doris. I'm a remaining 'English descendant' and am having difficulties in tracing John George's Canadian descendants.
I know that he died, aged 71, in 1932 in the Richmond Hill area of Toronto. He carried on business as a 'Builder', and his son Jack and his son-in-law William Travis also were both 'Builders'. Jack Dixon (b. 1894) definately lived in Etobicoke and presumably continued the 'Building business'.
His sister Doris Dixon became Doris Travis, and she was born in 1898, in England , of course.
If anyone has any tips on how to trace the further descendants I would be very grateful.

Name: Rene Stock <firstname.lastname@example.org> Date: 2005-03-16 Surname Interests Stock, Hearsnep, Hussey, Dalton, Quinn Places Mimico Comments:
The Ellice Township history 1997 states the following:
James Stock and his wife Grace (Frazelli) emigrated to Canada in 1813 from Chorley, Lancashire, England, with their five sons, Peter John, Joseph, Edward, and James, and settled in Mimico.
All census information that I have located to date places the year of emigration as 1830 (not 1813). Apparently Edward and James entered the grocery business; John, Joseph and Peter farmed in the Ellice township of Perth county. My gg grandfather John married Bridget Quinn, probably between 1840 and 1845. I would like to locate the marriage record; I think that Bridget is the daughter of Laughlin Quinn and Ellen Moore, but have been unable to confirm. The record may also confirm another suspicion of mine, that Grace's maiden name was Fazakerley, not Frazelli as stated.
I would also like to find out what happened with James and Grace; their movements, occupation, death dates/places.
Name: Merv Howes <email@example.com> Date: 2005-02-27 Surname Interests Paul/Stagg/Jarvis Places Etocicoke, York County, Hamilton, St. Catherines, Niagara Region Comments:
I am researching my ancestors, the Paul family, and would appreciate any input or suggestions. I am specifically seeking information about families with the surnames: Paul, Stagg and Jarvis. I am attempting to determine if there was a connection between either the Jarvis and Paul families or between the Jarvis and Stagg families. Any information would be appreciated.
My ggreat grandfather, James Paul (Born: 1819 in Bristol, Eng. – parents unknown) married and settled in Etocicoke Township where three children were born (James Paul Jr.: Born 1843 at Toronto, Mary Ann Paul: Born 1844 and William John Paul: Born 1846 at Toronto). Shortly after William John Paul’s birth James Paul’s first wife (name unknown) passed away.
Between late 1846 and early 1848 James Paul re-married Ann Stagg (Born: 1822 at St. Catharines, Ontario). They continued to raise the children from the first marriage and commenced having additional children of their own: Francis Paul (Born 1848 at Hamilton), Zaccheus Paul (Born 1850) and Jarvis Paul, my great grandfather (Born 1851 at St. Catharines). In 1854 the family relocated to a farm in Dawn Township, Lambton County.
Elderly Paul family members give reference to the Jarvis family of Niagara and Toronto areas as being related and it is this connection that I am trying to confirm.
I am attempting to determine if…
(1) James Paul’s first wife was a Jarvis. Could she have been a daughter of either Jamuel Peters Jarvis (Born 1792) or of his brother William Jarvis (Born 1794)?
(2) James Paul’s mother was a Jarvis. Was she a daughter of William Jarvis (Born 1756) and Hannah Owen Peters (Born 1760)?
(3) Ann Stagg’s mother was a Jarvis. Was her mother a daughter of William Jarvis (Born 1756) and Hannah Owen Peters (Born 1760)?
Any information about the Stagg family or Jarvis family would be appreciated. I am seeking to determine the name of my ggreat grandfather’s first wife along with anything else I might be able to learn about my ancestors. Thanks for any assistance.

This newsletter has loyalist genealogies, histories, occurrences (strange and otherwise), reviews (send us your new books), research problems and answers, query if requested, etc. Would you mind listing my site and mentioning my new loyalist newsletter? If I can be of any assistance, please let me know. I'd appreciate passing this on to your membership and include in your newsletter. I help promote all loyalist sites in my issues (and website) and encourage more education of the Revolutionary War. An added benefit to membership is a 10% discount on all items on my website. (Address below) This includes my research offers too.
Here is my website: http://www.bunnellgenealogybooks.citymaker.com/
My address and order info is listed there too.
Thanks so much.
