I still keep looking for more information on the Corbetts and Hasting families. I will probably never be done.
Also I would like to say that the song that Mr. Johnson sang is so pretty. I've listen to it several times. My husband and I have been to Gagetown so it means a little more.
Thank you
Jean

I am pleased to see that the cemeteries are being maintained and recorded. When we return to the Maritimes I hope to visit these sites and record them for our family records. In the small world category - my husband was startled to learn that during his training years ago he may well have marched over the old lands of his future family by marriage!

William Ward, and Charotte Shirley were my grandparents. They married sometime around 1875. It was the 2nd marriage for both, so there were Ward and Lindsay children going to the Shirley Road School. Their youngest son Harrison Fletcher Ward (b 1888-d1919) taught there in 1906. My grandfather Garnet Ward named one of his sons Shirley Carl Ward after Charlotte's family name. Both of them were born in Sunbury County

Knowlton Hill was named by 3 Signal Squadron in honour of a Commanding Officer, Major Knowlton. 3 Signal Squadron had a radio rebroadcast site there. It was manned to provide communications in the training area, mainly for range safety. The site was previously known as the "600 feature", as it was at 600' above sea level on a topographical map. Another question. Did most of the settlers in this area come at that time period (1821) because they were given grants. I'd appreciate more information regarding this subject. Also, were the bulk of the Irish from one destination? The surname Selfridge appears more commonly in Co Tyrone.
Thank you,
penny
