Hi,
I would like to ask if someone close to the West Oxford United Church Cemetery could take a picture of a stone there. According to the OCFA JANE and NATHANIEL CLEMENADE are buried there. This is a real mystery to me because there is a Jane Clemonade buried at the House of Refuge Cemetery. Nathaniel is supposed to be buried in Bertie Twp., Welland Co. ON. I'm beginning think there were 2 Nathaniel's.
Thank-you for the help

There's a Pearl (Turnbull) Ronson listed in the OCFA search results, buried in Tillsonburg Cemetery, Dereham, but there is no section listed, and I have flipped through all of the images under Ronson for the website. Is this likely because there is no stone for this individual? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks again for the great site.

There is an error under West Oxford. The 'Clemenade' stone is listed under the West Oxford United Church Yard Cemetery but is actually in the Beachville cemetery. A picture of it can be found under 'unknown 1' and is the first stone shown. According to church records the inscription reads "In Memory Of Abraham Son of Nathaniel & Jane Clemenade died Nov 3 1872
Age 11 years 4 months & 27 days." If someone could correct this it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how I missed knowing about this site but it turned up tonight. Was a bit tricky getting to the main page but I searched a surname on the Ontario Cemetery Project site and it returned Springford Community Cemetery as a result. That took me to the index from which I was unable to link to the photo. I went back and chose the Home link which brought me to your site and eventually the photo which turned out to be one of those missing individuals whom you figure must have died young because they just disappear. Luckily the inscription stood the test of time and the light was right when the photo was taken so we now know he did die young.
Your efforts on this site are greatly appreciated.

I didn't know until recently that our Bryant ancestors are buried in the East Zorra Baptist Cemetery, Oxford County, Zorra East Township Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. I want to thank everyone for their efforts in putting the pictures and web site together. We knew that my great, grandfather Edwin R. Bryant came from Canada but that was about it. Through research I was able to find who his parents were. I was amazed to find pictures of their graves on the Internet from this web site. We don't know why my g,grandfather Edwin R. Bryant left Canada. He is buried in St. Paul, MN USA. I confirmed that these were in fact his parents by getting his death certificate from the Minnesota Historical Society. Thanks Again.

Embro North Cemetery
The following transcription for the above cemetery has an error which you may wish to correct.
David BAILLIE 1848 – 1931 Jane BURGESS wife of David BAILLIE died Aug 16 1923 - aged 76 yrs John BAILLIE born Mar 2 1822 died Feb 2 1918 Native of Banffshire Scotland - BAILLIE
George BAILLIE 1879 – 1936 James BAILLIE 1877 - 1953
The error concerns the birth date of John Baillie who was the son of David Baillie and Jane Burgess. John was born on 2nd March 1882 at Glack, Botriphnie, Banffshire. His father David was born on 24 May 1849 at Mortlach, Banffshire and was my Great Grandmother's brother. He emigrated to Canada via Boston Massachusetts in 1891 with his wife and children who were all born in Scotland. This transcription helps to put in place the final link in a long search to complete the family of his parents George Baillie and Isabella Reid.
Descendants of George and Isabella also settled in Saskatchewan.

I am trying to locate the cemetary in Woodstock and location of the plot for my family "White". Included on the stone would be names Alexander White and his wife, son Melville Peter White and his wife, son Murray Alexander and children. The plot would date to the late 1800s initially and the last internment at the plot, although not on the headstone, would be Murray Richmond White in 1971 and his wife Helen Elizabeth Price in 1974. The latter two were in Cremation plots. The family immigrated from Scotland in 1866 and were likely of Presbyterian denomination.

The "Religious Society of Friends Cemetery" which is also known as the "Friends" or "Old Brick Cemetery" is located in the old township of North Norwich, north-east of the town of Norwich. Ella (Smyth) Stover is buried there but either her headstone is missing or too hard to read. I think this great that Cemeteries are finally get put on the net!! Just one thing I like to mention about the Norwich Gore. What would have been my great Aunt Leda Beatrice Mott, daughter of Byron & Beatrice (Beaton) Mott died. I do have her "Obituary Card". Leda was born Sept. 21, 1900 died Dec. 27, 1900 and it says she was buried at the Norwich Gore Cemetery. I do have the Norwich Gore Cemetery book myself and it is not listed in there either. She probably has an unmarked grave then. Hope to see it gets listed too. Thanks Gerry Clements

I am curious as to whether you would know of a resource to locate a property that is in Peebles, South west of Sweaburg, it is lot 8, concession 6, at peebles (bout 4 miles from sweaburg) I am trying to locate the property of the Timothy Topping Murder from 1873, as we have been lead to believe it was a property in Zorra Township on 43rd line, even the Sentinel has it as that house, but the original paper from 1873 says Pine Ridge of West Oxford, 2 and a half miles from Lawsons Cheese Factory, (can't find anything on that either) 4 miles from Sweaburg, and 9 from Woostock. I am unfortunately at a stand still, as resources are limited, and I am unsure of how to research property lots, and to find out the concessions if they have been changed and so on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank-you in advance, and anyone can email me with information on how to go about this!

Wondering if anyone knows where to find burial information for the stones at the Oxford Centre United Church. I visited but couldn't read most of the stones. Looking for Woodrows. Named Amy-d.1851 (nee Crofford/Crawford), James-d.?, Joseph-d.1841, Sarah Jane-d.1852 & Edmund-d.1876. I've found their surname misspelled as Woodroe, Woodron and Woodroen. Ed's daughter Anna(Bertrand) is buried at Christ Church Anglican and he was living with her when he died. I looked there but didn't see anything. They were Quakers and lived in N. Norwich & Burford/E.Oxford. I've looked in the Norwich Cemeteries to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions where to look now?

This is wonderful, thank you so much for putting it all on your site for us. By your doing so, I was able to piece together a part of our family that I had known very little of previously. I am working on the Burgar/Burger family, Peter Nelson and Hannah Burgar moved to the Norwich area, and seem to have disappeared into thin air. I was delighted to find some of his family here, however it looks like many of them died within a 2 year period. Does anyone else know if Lucy Burger was Lucy Tidy prior to her marriage?

Even though I am a member of the Oxford OGS and have paid many visits to their premises, it is very helpful to be able to review cemetery and other records at leisure from my home. I've made discoveries in that way that I might otherwise have missed. G. Glenn Parker, Burlington, Ontario.

I'm glad to see more and more early Ontario information coming on line, and delighted that cemetery transcriptions are coming. So far I haven't found a ripple left by my gggrandfather and his tribe, but it will come!

Thanx for all the great work on this site. Looking for the Parsons family that came from Wales in the mid 1800s. Found the gravestone in the Baptist cemetary. A new name showed up that I have found no where else. It is E. B. Parsons. A relative to William and Mary Ann Parsons. Any ideas?

Nice site ! I have been watching it closely for a while now seeking info on my g-g-grandfather Harrison Wiltse who is buried in St Johns church cemetery. I have nothing on his ancestors or relatives other than his daughter Meretta. A gentleman from that area sent me a picture of his gravestone. I also have a reciept where a Henry Wiltse paid for 2 grave sites at St Johns in 1888. Will be anxiously awaiting to see the St Johns transcript when it is done. Dave Mink , Hixson TN>

It is impossible to find the words that will adequately express my appreciation for your efforts in producing this web site. I live in Texas but my family came from Scotland/England to the Oxford/Zorra area. What a surprise to find that you have them listed. Although I have photos of their stones, I've not been able to clearly read the dates - even with a powerful magnifying glass. You have made it possible for me to know the accurate information. In some of the photos, there is very small writing on the stones that I have not been able to read. I thought I would never know what it said. You have included it in your listing. Now I know the poetry from the stones. "Thank You!"

I've enjoyed your pages. My family (Flowers) are from Woodstock. My g-grandfather was born there in 1841. His father was born in England but I don't know if they were loyalists or not. Anyway, keep up this valuable work. Thanks
