Edith was my mother, Julia Hicks', best friend and her 'Secret Pal'. I still use the cookbook she gave my Mom. Would love a Photo of the two of them if there might be one. My Mom died in 1962 and most of all the family photos were lost in a Hurricane.
I was so surprised to see that she was the only one attending Edith's wedding. i found it while searching for my Mom.
Sincerely,
Robin

I am descended from the union of Mary Ann ( or J.??) knight who married Edward Meekins/Meakins Allen, who moved with E M Allen to Rector, Arkansas. I am a bit confused because I find records with Mary Ann Knight being married to Edward Allen, but also have records from ancestry.com with her listed as Mary J and which show her being married to him, being from Ga and living in Rector, etc. Any clarification you may have on this point would be most appreciated.

Thank you very much. This site is very interesting.

Comments:
Excellent work. I stumbled upon your site back in July, & through researching it, have filled in more of my heritage in 6 weeks than anyone else has been able to accomplish in 20 years.

To fill in a gap on your site; Adam C. Knight had a son Edwin born in 1878 per the census record. Around 1895 - 1900 Adam moved the family to the Bay City, Michigan area. Edwin sort of "drops off the map" as it were at this point, as he is not included in the 1910 census.

Edwin married Augusta Gottleber in Bay City, Michigan on 23 November 1908, and moved to Afton in Cheboygan County shortly afterward. They had 5 children before Edwin died in 1932 at age 54.

One of those children, Ernest, was my grandfather.

Once again, thank you for what is perhaps the most complete family history site I've ever come across. If it weren't for your efforts, I might never have confirmed that the Edwin Knight in the 1880 New York census was indeed my Great-Grandfather.

Comments:
Human beings look separate because you see them walking about separately. .But then we are so made that we can only see the present moment. If we could see the past, then of course it would look different. For there was a time when every man was a part of his mother, and (earlier still) part of his father as well, and then they were part of his grandparents. If you could see humanity spread out in time, as God sees it, it would look like one single growing thing--rather like a complicated tree. Every individual would appear connected with every other. C.S. Lewis, 1898-1963

Hi Cousins! My name is Nancy Russell Curran from Biltmore Forest, Asheville, NC. My mother was an Emerson, whose grandmother, originally from Harmony,NY, was Marie Elizabeth Knight (from Joseph, to Benjamin, Sr., to David, and then to Richard Knight and Sarah Rogers---going up, that is!)

Through Richard and Sarah, I went back to 0069 AD according to the Mormon Church. I call my findings my "Genealogical Mythology" or my "Mythological Genealogy"! Whatever! It was the most marvelous history lesson, and I loved every moment that I printed out genealogical outlines!

But what you guys have done is so incredible. You definitely stimulate me to do something tangible!

I have added your genealogy of the Knights, which is truly awesome, to my books, and I thank you for all the information. I started all this, when my husband and I suddenly were given a home in Newport, RI (we lived in West HArtford, Ct with our 4 sons)! Literally dropped out of the sky! And my neighbor was so uppity-you know: old Newport!, that I decided to show her up as I knew Richard Knight was so much more Newport than anything she could show! I never told her, but I truly had the greatest satisfaction knowing she was only a second generation Newporter (who also was not born here!) We now live in Newport full time as of two years ago, and every day I wake up and I am so glad I'm here! And finding your piece on the internet just made me happier!!! Oh, and yes, we are in the very oldest part of Newport, which makes me feel we are very close to Richard and Sarah. Would love it if you would write; and come visit Newport, if you haven't. It is very special. I can show you the Rogers monument in a tiny cemetery on a very main highway (in Newport, it's not too wide!).
Whatever, THANK YOU for your wonderful work! I shall, and my children shall, cherish it!
Nancy Curran, 11 Pine Street, Newport, RI 02840 (401-849-9622)

I am the great niece-in-law to Clifford Burnham Knight who married first Lelah Arbaugh and then Daphne Keeney. I am trying to locate a photo or something from Vernon F Knight, son of Clifford Burnham Knight and Lelah Arbaugh. I have a letter from the army to Clifford saying they sent him his personal affects, which included 12 pictures, dog tags, cash and some misc. items. He was also given the flag to his coffin. I am wondering if any of these items still exist...if I could get copies of pictures, anything. We have nothing of Vernon except a small photo of when he was a toddler, and then his death information when he died in WWII. Any information would be most helpful.

Thank you

Knight Relative Lucinda Aday
Comments:
I am descended from George Washington Peters who married Lucinda Aday (daughter of Boaz W. Aday and Mary Holcomb). I found your website. Thank you for putting information out for all to see. I have some corrections to the information. As I said, Lucinda Aday married George Washington Peters in about 1858. Her brother, John W. Aday married Eliza Catherine Sherman. You have him married to Eliza Jane ?. Lucinda died around 1865/66. I saw the picture of the headstone and the part that says the death date must be from another headstone that broke off. I am pretty positive that Lucinda died in 1865 or 66 and is buried in the Peters Cemetery in Crawford Co., AR. Maybe the headstone was removed from the cemetery. I can't explain the picture, I just know my research. Back to the family. Eliza C. Sherman married John W. Aday. John served for the Union Army in the civil war. I have copied the widows pension application you cited and Eliza stated that John came home on leave. As he was getting ready to return to his unit, some men who were confederate sympathizers attacked and killed him in front of their home. He was listed as having deserted the army and Eliza had to get an act of the US Congress with witnesses to set the record straight about how he died so she could collect a pension, after George Washington Peters died. After Lucinda and John W. Aday both died, the in-laws, George Peters and Eliza Sherman Aday married each other. This is the couple that I am descended from through their son James Midlin Peters. I hope I am being clear. It is a bit complicated in their relationships and who died when. Let me know if you have any questions.
Anne

Ran into your page during a search. I once saw a genealogy search that Stella did as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) that had a detailed tree. I have no idea where it is now, but I could hunt if it would be of interest to you.

I was actually looking for info on Chester V. Knight's ancestors - I think you have him listed as Charles V. Knight. Chester's son married one of my closest friends and I was trying to see if/how we connect. I am pretty sure that Chester is the same as the man you have listed as Charles based on the dates, census info and Elm Grove Cemetery records. I live about 1/2 mile from Elm Grove.

My mother, Barbara Bergin, had an aunt, Agnes Bergin, who married a Knight (Ray?) and lived in Massachusetts. Her Bergins were from New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York. If your Agnes is the same lady, her mother was Anne Browne, her father was Thomas Bergin and they were from Kinnity, County Offaly, Ireland. There were a lot of children, all born in New Rochelle, and Agnes was one of the youngest. If you're interested, I have names and dates and who they married.

Hello,
I am not sure how you fit into my family tree, but some of your information appears to be wrong. Naomia and Lee only had 2 children. Ione and Lloyd. I am not sure where you got Doris from. Ione had a cousin named Dory which may be the Doris you referrenced. Ione is my grandmother. Also, Hattie was Lee's first wife and they had 3 children. They were all born and lived in Humboldt county as far as I know all of their lives. They were never in Santa Margarita. Hattie died somewhere around 1911 or 1912 as I remember and the children were raised by their maternal grandmother, Alice Filkins. I would be interesed in e-mailing with you about what information you have and I also have pictures of my family here. My e-mail address in case it doesn't show up for you is lwilker4021@netzero.com. Look forward to hearing from you. Lisa

First, thank you for all your hard work-I'm sure it's a labor of love! Via Tim Noonan, I only recently became aware of a Knight connection to the York family (NH/MA) that I am researching- a connection IF Josiah and Margueritte had a daughter (Phobe?)who married a James Stott and had a daughter Elisabeth who married a York! I can only find reference to them having two sons, Joseph and Elijah. Can you shed any light on this? Again, thank you. Ruth

Knight Relative Richard Harrison Knight
Comments:
My father's name was Richard Harrison Knight and he was born in 1901 in the Boston area. My father's younger brother was named Howard. My father's father was also named Richard Harrison Knight and he was born in the Akron, Ohio area (Cuyahoga Falls?). I believe my grandfather's father (possibly his grandfather?)was named Richard Harrison Knight and this is the person named on this site. The family story is that the original Richad Harrison Knight came from Connecticut. Evidently, my father's father had some break with the Knight family in Ohio, because I have a number of tintypes of Knight relatives in the Akron area that do not have names attached. My father told me that this was his father's family album but his father never went over it with him or did he ever meet Knight family relatives from Akron or Cuyahoga Falls. I also never found any correspondence between his father and the Ohio Knights when my father passed away in 1972. I would love to put names to the photos of the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls Knights. The pictures seem to be from the 1860's to the 1890's. An old family story (never proven) is that one of the Knights led wagon trains west out of Akron in the mid 1800's and that his son got separated from the wagon train on one trip and spent several years with an Indian tribe before fortuitously meeting up with his father leading another wagon train. Another story was that one of our forebears was on the Mayflower. Another one was that the "Harrison" middle name was in recognition of being related to the two Harrisson presidents. Another story from my parents was that one of the Knights was wounded 7 times in the Revolutionary War and returned to action. They said his name was "John" - perhaps to dress it up for me. Again, I have never found any evidence that these stories are true.

I happened onto your website today and was very excited to read all that you have on the Knight family. I am somewhat new to genealogy and have been researching my mother's family and hadn't made much progress on the Knight and Brown family until yesterday. I am the Great Grand Daughter of Estella. Her husband John Brown was my Great Grandfather. They had a daughter Ina Brown (who I am named after). Ina was married to William Newville. Their daughter Dorothy was my mother. Estella went by the name Stella in the family. I came upon her cemetery records yesterday at the Flint Public Library and learned from her Death Certificate that her father was Adam Knight. I have since been doing research online and have learned alot about the Knight family - very interesting!! I especially enjoyed reading your report. You don't have anything about Estella, which I would be glad to share what I know about her. I have a lot about the descendants of John and Stella if you would like it. Nice to discover another "cousin". I live in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

My great-grandmother was Sarah Simmons. Her mothers name was Louise Knight. She was born in November, 1868 and died in 1943. At the time of her death, the Knight family wanted her to be buried at the Knight Family Plot near the apple orchard. However, she wanted to be buried at Pocasset Cemetery in Cranston, RI. I am having a problem finding if her mothers maiden or married name was Knight. All I have listed for Sarah Simmon's mother is Louise Knight Simmons. Any help you could provide would be deeply appreciated. I have a photo of my great-grandmother if you make the connection to the Knight family and would like it. Also, do you have any photos of the memorial stones at Knights Cemetery? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can render.

I had just started looking for my dad's ancestors when I happened across your web site. Apparently I'm in the Knight line you have obviously spent a great deal of time researching. Walter N. Knight was my grandfather b. 1895. My father was Morris D. Knight as you have listed...his actual was Maurice Donald Knight.

It looks like you have already put in the work on my father's Knight line so I started looking at his wife Florence, my grandmother. When I first saw my father's birth certificate it listed his mother as Florence Knight. I figured this was just an error and they didn't use her maiden name. It seems your research indicates her maiden name was also Knight. I've been trying to find any of her line but haven't had any luck. I also have unsubstantiated rumors at this point that she was related to Edwin Stanton, Sec. of War under Abraham Lincoln. Haven't been able to connect from that end either. She was Florence Lamson Knight b. 1891 in Varysburg, N.Y.

Anyway, thanks for your great work on the Knight family. I'm still trying to figure my way around this genealogy research so any tips would be great.

She died at the age of 23 of TB, Leaving little Martha just 2 years old. On your site, Irona does not appear. I believe the first two children of Lester P. Knight were from Irona. The rest of the site is a wonderful resource, many more names than I'd hoped to find, and with great "notes".
