I am the registrar and genealogist for a chapter of The Daughters of The American Revolution and must research the lineage for our prospective members. I have been on the GenWebs for most States and many counties and yours is one of the most comprehensive. As you know, many counties offer absolutely no information. Most, very little. Good job.

Comments:
I am researching the New Deal Artists whose works are in the collections of McKinley County, New Mexico. Wayne Erik Barger was one of these artists but there is very little accurate information regarding him. The reason was the elimination of his first name in earlier searches, and a different spelling of Erik (Eric). Your Genealogical Society's efforts which are accessible online provided me with missing information: place of birth and accurate date of death. Cudos to you for all your effort! (including the image of Mr. Barger's tombstone! Any other info on him would be appreciated.

How Many Years of CO History 150
What I Like About This Site Hopes in finding some information.
Comments:
My 2nd Great Grandmother Sarah Locknane came to Colorado in 1860 with her two small children, Frances Locknane age three, and Charles Scott Locknane, age 1. She tried her hand at mining for about two years, and then came to what is now Arvada area. She was awarded a homestead and started to raise cattle. She died in her home in 1909, and that home was removed when the I-70 was built.

Frances, my great grandmother married Mr. Adams and had two children, Lola Montez Adams [my grandmother] and May Adams. It appears that when Mr. Adams died, she remarried a Mr. Shannahan, a neighboring ranger, and had two more children, Carrie and Oscar.

I have lost tract of Frances, and can't find her death or burial. I can't find any records on Mr. Adams, my great grandfather.

I live in Livermore CA

Comments:
My Great Grandparents, Esbon Eugene Cadwell and Myra Catherine "Nannie" Eastman Cadwell are listed in your info on the 1885 Park County Census. My Grandmother, Julia Cadwell (Hockett) is also named, at age 12. Her brother, Eugene, was 2. You have Esbon listed as "Ed." Not sure where that came from, but it is incorrect. Have never seen a source where he is referred to as Ed. I will check our Library and see what I can find. Perhaps the text was hard to read in the 1885 Census. It won't be the first time I have had to correct something on the Census. Unfortunately, it takes an act of God to make changes. Some I have requested have never gotten changed.

I live in Longmont if you are interested in some history and wish to contact me. I know that there are Cadwell's buried in Park County cemeteries, siblings to Julia and Eugene. They came to Colorado after the Chicago fire. Esbon was in real estate there as well as in Denver, where they moved after leaving Park County.

Comments:
I'd like to say thanks to you for your great site. I finally found the one person whom I had been searching for, for the last 20 some years. This man, Howell Davis of Fairplay, Park Co. is just that person. He was listed in the 1870 census as being a farmer. I was looking for any info on him after he left Illinois. If anyone is doing research, he was born 1837 in Madison Co., IL., Omph Ghant Township. His father was Ezekiel Davis, born in N.J. 1790.
Suspect his father to be Samuel. Howell has brothers, Stephen, Shephard, Hiram, Charles, Paris, and sisters Hannah and Harriet.
Would gladly supply what info I have on his family. Would also like to know if there is anything on him or if he had a family in Colorado.
Just e-mail with Subject: Howell Davis
P.S. He was brother to my Gr. Gr. Grandfather, Hiram

His wife was Anna Dibble, and his children were Coline Sibbit and Earl Sibbit.

Earl Sibbit was a sign painter, but had some mental or epileptic condition and eventuallly ended up in the State Hospital in Pueblo in the 1930s. Coline either died or married around age 26. I do not know what happened to her I have a picture of James W. Sibbit's house in Boulder around 1895 and one of him from 1880 in Hoopeston, IL, just before he moved to Colorado.

Wilmer Sibbitt

I am a trained archivist with an interest in volunteer work in family history. Some time ago, while living in Seattle, I was a volunteer with the Family History Room at the Sandpoint Way Federal Records Center. Of course, I have my own family history that I am pursuing, having been at it for 25 years. My ancestors on my father's side were German, from Bremen, who settled in Jackson County, Iowa and English from Somerset County, England, who settled in Ohio and Nebraska. On my mother's side, my ancestors are all from Switzerland, Canton Schwyz, spec. Schwyz and Gersau who settled in Western Washington By this I mean that I have some knowledge of these areas and places.

Looking for the Golden Hill Cemetary index, we are doing a general search for Jewish Genealogy Society (CO) to find where the Jewish Burials, deaths are in the Denver area. As you know before 1920 the death records in Denver County Arapahoe before 1901, are very incomplete.

I couldn't find the reference. I'll e-mail your president.

How Many Years of CO History About 150 years
What I Like About This Site Easy to use, Thanks
Comments:
My great grandmother, Emma J. HOSKING was "of Colorado" according to a 1901 Wisconsin County Directory. She married my ggrandfather, William H. TREGLOWN (he was born in the 1950's so Emma probably was, too) in the early 1880's and the couple lived in Linden, Wisconsin. Everybody in my family are Cornish miners, in fact I am the first generation out of the shafts. I wish I could find out more about Emma but can only guess that she grew up in one of your mining counties. Emma died in Butte in 1895. From another angle, my grandmother, Mary Treglown, was born in Silver Plume in 1896, I think. Her mother was Ellen Bryant Pope and her dad was Martin Pope. Ellen had 11 kids, 9 by her first husband, Frederick. This couple came from Cornwall via the mines of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Frederick was killed in a mining accident (in Silver Plume?) in the early 1880's or so. Martin left South African mines to come to Colorado to care for his brother's big family. Are there any HOSKINGS or POPEs still in the area? With so many kids, seems like somebody might have stayed around. Guess they just moved on to other mines....Gay TREGLOWN Knutson
