Where/when in Linn County did they live? circa 1941 - died 1/12/61
Where/when were they born? Dania, Florida c. 1890 - 1893
Comments:
I am trying to determine where my grandfather George W. Eye's parents were from. The family history is that he was born as soon as they got off the boat from England. However, their language was "Danish". They came from an island. They landed in Dania, FL. They came to build the railroad down the east side of Florida. My recent research shows two islands in England named Little Eye and Middle Eye, now part of England's Hilbre Islands Nature Reserve. These were settle by Vikings many centuries ago and possibly the people still spoke a Viking language in the mid- to late 1800's. Anybody have any info?

I am researching my ancestry. My great grandfather's birthplace is listed as Linn County, IA on his death certificate. His father's name is listed as William Williams (born Germany); his mother's as Carrie Halverson (born Norway). I have been told that Chris's parents died when he was young, and that he was raised by his aunt, Bessie Nelson. Chris apparently had a great aunt Susan Nelson (I believe his mother's aunt) who owned a farm somewhere in IA. I have letters from a lawyer in Marengo, IA, written in the early 1930's regarding her farm and her will. The letters do not indicate where the farm was located.

Chris married Caroline Nelson (born Norway, immigrated 1880), I do not know when or where they married. They had two sons, John Lewis Williams (b. 1884) and Arthur Morris Williams (b. 10/10/1887, Lehigh?, IA). The family moved to Washington State and homesteaded in Poulsbo in 1889.

I have been hoping to find some record of their location in Linn County, but have had no success so far.

Ken

Comments:
My maiden name is Cullison and I have family records and stories that show Micajah R. Cullison (my great-grandfather)as the husband of Ella G. Johnson and having 5 children with her. My grandfather, William Ford Cullison, and his brother, Jesse Roudolph Cullison, were the only 2 of their children who lived past their 4th birthday. According to internet info, there was a sister, Anna, whom is unknown to my living family members. Ido know my gr-grandfather, Micajah R.
divorced Ella and married Georgia Belle Willson and they had 7 children. I would really love to here from anyone who
can help me sort this out. I also have all the info for the three generations after William Ford and brother Jesse Rudolph.

Thanks for a very informative and useful site.

Family, work, and hobbies leave little time for genealogy. I really appreciate this site because it is efficienty organized.

I listed a bogus email address. To correspond with me just omit the first character (omit the X).

What Linn County surnames are you researching? Brislawn, Bracelon, Brislain, McNamara, McCaffery, McGreevy
Where/when in Linn County did they live? Prairiebrug
Where/when were they born? James Brislawn, 1812, Mary, 1818
Comments:
James and Mary Brislawn came to Cedar Rapids from Ireland in about 1850. They homesteaded in Prairieburg. Their six children eventually migrated to Washington State where they were pioneers. James planned to go with them after Mary died in about 1876, and he moved to Cedar Rapids to await Spring. Unfortunately, James died in February 1878. I have located a Brislawn family in Jones County, in Troy Mills, but I have not contacted them as yet. I would appreciate any info regarding this family. Thanks for your help, Ellen Meyer
