I'm in the process of publishing CROSS-BORDER TALES, MAINE, NEW BRUNSWICK, AND *MORE*. My mother was born in the Nackawic area,my cousins have a camp in Riley Brook where I've hunted, and my wife donated a Bicentennial Quilt, handsewn by Lottie Steeves of Hartland, to the Carleton County Historical Society.
Can you further identify the Jim Anderson postcard of a salmon fishing lodge in Nictau? Do you have any information on Gulquac Lodge on the Oxbow?
Merry Christmas to All,

My family lived in Plaster Rock from 1949-53 and owned the Valley Inn, now gone. Sheila Wright and I were classmates and I still refer to her as my first girlfriend, grades 1-3. Our families spent many happy times at the Wright's cottage up river, I remember it well. Mom and Dad, Jack & Gladys are both buried in the cemetery on the hill, with spots reserved for my sister Joy and I. Please pass on to Sheila. Arthur

Great bunch of information. I have a question regarding some genealogy research I'm doing on the Doak family. My records indicate that James Doak and his wife Elizabeth both died on February 17, 1873. Is there a source I can be pointed at that would give me some news of the day for that day? Was there a daily newspaper that served the area? Thanks in advance!

I wanted some information on Enoch Petchey and found it on your site. I recently purchased one of his paintings at an auction. I am hoping to find out if it is authentic. It does have a coat of varnish over it so I am sure that can't be good. I own 3 other pieces of his work,2 small pieces and one larger piece. The one I just purchased is framed in a plain brown frame. Thank-you for the info and it was wonderful to scroll through your site.

A friend pointed out your website to me. What a great job! I am photographing and transcribing stones for the St. Pauls's cemetery in Edmundston, NB Not only did I find on your site Henry Fong who I was searching for, but also several Cannons which is my maiden name.
My problem with the Fongs is that "a" Mrs. Fong is in the United Church cemetery (without a stone), but her name appears in the church records as passing away in 1921. Henry, a laundryman, is listed in the 1911 census as being in Edmundston and single. His date of birth is 1880 however and that he immigrated to Canada in 1895.
His death certificate states he died in Perth and was 84 years old when he died in 1950 and was buried in Larlee Brook.
If you have any further information on your Henry Fong I would appreciate having access to it.
Again great site. Keep up the great work!
St. Joseph de Mad. NB

My name is Richard Vasquez and I live in Sacramento, California. My mother's cousin Margaret Richter(nee Harles), her husband,Otto Rudolph Richter, and their two sons Rudolph and Albert(?) lived on a farm on the Tobique River, in Riley Brook. They also took in and guided hunters and Atlantic salmon fishermen.
They had lived in Edmunston till about 1940, where they ran the restaurant in a large hotel. Members of our family visited them often... I did twice, and we were so very impressed with their hard work and industry.
After my folks died, I lost track of them. I'm sure the olk folks are long dead, but Rudy, the younger son might still be alive. He would be near 90.
Do you have any knowledge or records of this family? I would so much appreciate anything you could offer.
Richard J Vasquez

I am pleased to have found the unmarked grave of Shirley Giberson, buried in Kincardin in 1932, aged 5 years old. A lot of internet looking, and with the help of Patty Corey checking church records for me,and the Mortons who maintain the graveyard, we now know where she is. In September while I am home visiting, a few of us will lay a stone marker at the grave, she will no longer be "lost" to us. Many thanks Wendi

I have been researching my Mum's family in England and have obtained all her personal information from a site called Pier 21. At this site I entered Mum's name and had a hit. I have visited this site before but it has been updated since then. I got everything from her marriage date to the date she arrived in Canada. I would advise anyone who has a War Bride in their family to check it out. I also received service records of two of Mum's uncles who were policemen in Norfolk, England. You guys have the basics or foundaion for a great club.
