Found the site to be very interesting and helpful. Plan to add my Patriots to your Patriot list and will suggest that our local chapter of the NSDAR add our entire patriot list. This is often helpful for future researchers in their quests.

Compared with todays weaponry, I am curious about how our militia in 1700s managed. Where did they get their ammunition, how did they manage to carry it ?
How fast could they fire when engaged in battle ?
I read somewhere that 3 shots per minute was tops. But how many shots overall could be fired in a battle ?

As an example how many shots in total might have been fired in the entire battle at Kings Mountain ? Or the Battle of Waxhaws ?

Any help anyone ?

I'm looking for more infomation on a John Simmons b. 12-1-1752 in Bertie Co. NC. He enlisted 4 times from Guilford and Rockingham Co. NC from 1776 until 1881. He fought under Gen. Rutherford, Col. James Martin, Col. John Paisley and Captains Buster and Glen. I have a copy of his pension but I'm looking for maybe some of the persons who may have fought with him and moved to Grainger Co. Tn with him in March of 1801. There is a report that he may have been one of six brothers who fought in the War, not neccessary together. One brother Isham fought about the same time as he did but apparently in different companies. It is said that maybe one of the six died during the war. I would appreciate any help finding more info on him.

He joined up in Guilford and Rutherford Co. NC starting in 1776 a total of 4 times. His last enlistment was in 1781. He received a pension in Grainger Co. Tennessee in 1832. I have a copy of his pension but I'm trying to find more on him. I can't find him listed on any of your list of service men. His name is John Simmons b. 12-1-1752 in Bertie Co. NC.
