I am looking for information about James E Yerby who was born in Mecklenburg, NC around 1832. He died at Vicksburg, Ms around 1863. I would like to know more about his parents. He married Margaret McAteer. I don't know if that was before he moved to alabama or after. I am trying to start a family tree. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you so much for this wonderful site. It is so hard to find this kind of info when you don't know a lot of the facts when you start. In the Battle of 1812 I found one ancestor, Captain George Hoffman, and probably have a few more I haven't found yet. Keep up the good work!

My John M. Jones was born 1794 in Montgomery Co. N. C. and enlisted in Asheville, N.C. and discharged at Camp Greenfield, N.C. 17 May 1815. With a notation to "see pension records". Is there anyway that I can research his Pension Records myself?

The microfilm of the census records at the Haywood Co. library include the names of the people in each household as well as the head of the household. Will it ever be possible to see these included in records that are in these sites? I hope so. An alternative to the National Archives for War of 1812 Pension/Military Records would be very helpful. Recently they replied that they did not have the Pension record for my ancestor, however, the RECORDS OF ENLISTED MEN IN THE U.S. ARMY, under remarks column says:"See Pension Case".
