I am Rev. Fr. Kenneth Borrett. M. Div,. AOHC., born in Jullundur in 1947. Now resident in Toronto, Ontario, Cananda. I married Aurora Borrett (Nee - Salandana-Obar) in 1980 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was born in Manila Pilippines in 1946.
My brother is Dr. George Borrett, now resident in Winnepeg Manitoba. Canada.
I am a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada and the name of my parish is; Epiphany and St. Mark, in the Village of Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Mt Father was Frederick Rupert Borrett and Mother's name was Dorothy Marie (nee) Pereira. All the details you have seem accurate - however, so far as I have documentation, my father was born in 1907 and my mother in 1911.
Noel, one of my first cousins, is a Doctor of Medicine still in England I think and I haven't seen his sister,Diane, since she married Paulo in London, England - we celebrated at Greenwich as I recall. That would have beeen in the late '60 I would guess. The last time I saw Noel was c. 1979 in Essex. We have other cousins in India; Rosalind and Jennefer, daughters of my mother's eldest brother Richard who, I believe, taught at St. Joseph's in Bangalore. Bangalore was the family home. However my mother was born in Quetta.
I have other information that may be helpful.
My nephew Paul is a good source of our family history. I believe he lives in Hong Kong now.
Blessings and thanks for this.
Yours.

Hi, great job! Was wondering about the entry on Gadiyalgar Saldanha. Anna Maria Pais is listed as his first wife, but according to your data, she was nearly 20 years younger than him and lived to 83. Maria Serrao is listed as his second wife, but she was 14 years older than Anna Maria, so they would have both been really old when they were eligible to marry. Could you have got the order mixed up? Also wondering which one if any was the Frenchman's daughter--probably Maria Serrao?

Dear Mr Ferris,
I chanced upon your website while attempting to research my family genealogy. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a sizeable chunk of my family’s genealogy listed on your site under the name of Fernandez. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~aferris/FernandezF/d4.htm#i14451
My grandmother Greta ( Mary Margaret Fernandez as per your listing) married Dr Percival Edward Neri. On Greta’s side of the family, your site lists her ancestors going back two generations. There is however no information on Dr Percival Edward Neri’s ancestry.
I was wondering if you have access to sources in Mangalore who may be able to look at church records to see if any information is available about Percival Neri’s antecedents. I will greatly appreciate any help you can give me in this regard.
Thanks and regards

Hi Anil,
A very interesting compilation of various family trees. Splendid job!
I have been trying to put together our family tree as well. I came across your contribution when I was searching for some names on the Internet (and I did not really have any hope of finding them!). The Noronha-Rai family of Karkal and a couple of Pais appearing in your pages are distantly connected to my extended family. There may be others.
It is well-known that Tipu Sultan's soldiers captured almost the entire Mangalorean Konkani Catholic community (a few people escaped the captivity for various reasons) in 1784. But what is not known is if the Portuguese priests, who escaped the capture as they most likely had prior knowledge of the matter, took with them any of the church records. If they did, these records could still be there somewhere in Goa (which was the Archdiocese for mangalore at the time), or Lisbon, the Portuguese 'church' capital under the Padroado system prevalent at the time.
The Mangalore Catholics of today come from different stocks:
* The Goan migrants who carried the Goud Saraswat Brahmin surnames (Prabhu, Pai, Naik etc) in addition to the Portuguese surnames
* The Goan migrants who did not have the Goud Saraswat Brahmin surnames
* The local converts - of non-Konkani origin - of Mangalore from the caste structure (I have been told Mudarth is one such surname)
* The local converts of Mangalore - outside of the caste structure
Cheers,
Bert Naik

Hi Anil,
Your compilation is really good. I was born in Hospet in 1944 to Santhan Colaco and Flcian Lobo at Madathalke House, and have a record of the partial tree told to me by my father before his death in 1976. You may add some of the missing links in the tree and the following interesting notes.
PASCAL COLACO: The founder apparently came from Goa and settled in Taccode. He donated land to the "Holy Cross Church" of Hospet (which has a history of 200 years - the only churh that was spared by Tippu Sultan in return for the favors received from the Jain King of Moodbidri as he had a special affinity for Hospet Catholics as they used to grow beetle leaves and supply to Pan chewing Hindu community. Pascal Colaco made a condition of land gift to Hospet church as follows: A mass has to be said whenever a Colaco dies - and this condition remains perpetual to this day.
Missing Links: Casmir Colaco son of Pascal Colaco had 6 children: Joseph, Augustine, Alex, Domingo Rosario and tow girls -one of them was married to Mulki Aranha family.
Josph Colaco is the one who settled down in Hospet in a place called "Mundenir". The ancestral house he built still exists.
My immediate ancestry as follows: My grandfather Domigo Rosario Colaco was the youngest brother of Joseph Colaco. An iteresting note; Since the mother died at child birth Josephs wife sarted breast (barren) feeding the child to save him and miraculously milke developed and my grand father survived.
D.R. Colaco married Philomena Aranha of Gazni - Mulki. He had 3 children. Vincent Colaco, Lawrence Santahn Colaco and Isabella who married Francis Baptist.
L.S. Colaco married Felcian Lobo of Alangar -Taccode had 5 children
Titus Colaco: Born in 1944 ..living in Houston Texas. Married to Mable D'Cunha of Coondapore. Has 2 children, Glenn and Donna. Glenn
Rudolph Colaco: Born in 1946 Still lives in Madathalke House - Hospet. Married to Cyble Aranh of Mulki - has 2 children, Cheryl and Anitha
Stan Colaco: Born in 1947, Lives in Mangalore; Married to Brincy Pinto, has 3 children- Aaron, Zeina & Brandon
Lena Colaco; Born in 1949, Married to Shrikanth Nayak - has one child, Aswini married George Pallikat.
Elvira Colaco: Born in 1952, married to Robert Lobo- has one child - Arun.
Best Regards,
Titus Colaco
