My Success Story:
My father left when I was 8 months old...I am now 57. I have looked for him all my life. I've tried every organization possible. I even bought books to help me find missing people. I've wrote letters to many talk shows hopeing I'd get on there show. The Salvation Army tried for several years to help, and they finally closed there file on my father. It's like there was dead end. I did trace his family's grave site; they are buried in White Springs, Florida. Jan. 15th we found a article in the Florida Times Union with different web sites...which I had already tried most of these. I made copies of the article and sent them to my 3 sons and their wives. One of my daughter-in-laws found his death record on the Rootsweb site..he had died in El Centro, California in 1952, when I was 8 years old. I ordered his death certificate and also the coroner's report from El Centro. I found out that he died of a heart attach in the hospital...someone just dropped him off there. On the internet I met a lady who has been helping me from El Centro, and she has taken pictures of his grave site and mailed them to me. Hopefully in the next few months I plan on going to California and seeing his grave site. I would like to thank you all for giving me closure to finding the news on my father. At least now I know why he didn't come home. (My father's name was Klein Pierce.)Thanks, Elaine Smith

My father Klein Staten Pierce left when I was 8 months old, and I have looked all my life for him. My daughter daughter-in-law Shannon found his death record on RootsWeb in January...he died in El Centro, California. He was just going through that town when someone took him to the hospital and he died of a heart attack when I was 8 years old. So this is why he never came home. I have tried over the years different organizations and the Salvation Army for help. June the 11th my son took me to El Centro to see his grave. I am 57 years old, and in my heart I always felt he was still alive, now knowing that he died when I was 8, at least I feel like this is the real reason he never came back home. Now I am trying to put closure to this. I met two ladies on the internet in El Centro that has helped me so much. One of the ladies karen wrote a great story about me and put it in the Imperival Valley Press paper in El Centro June 4, 2001. I am so thankful for RootsWeb. Thank you, Elaine Pierce Smith

My Success Story:
On Valentine's Day 1997, my home of 37 years burned. My sister brought pictures and Mother's Bible and I scanned them in but still felt as if I had lost my roots. Looking at the pedigree chart from the Bible sent me searching for my Keener roots. A Posting that included my G-Grandmother's name from someone named Teri Lowe caught my eye and I answered it. Our Grandmothers were sisters!!! From there we have located family memebers from 7 0f the 8 siblings and it was time to put up a web site. The Ellis Keener Connections was started with what we had and whatt I was able to get from a contact on the GAGILMER Mailing list about my Ellis Family. An emails from a "cousin" in Florida put me in touch with a man who had worked 30 years or more on the Keener Line. It turned out he lived 8 miles from me! Now I was getting emails from people who thought they were a part of our lines and I kept adding and adding. I wanted to update what was on the site so other searchers could find us and the best way to do this was to upload the entire GED file to WorldConnect. Now each time I update the website, I update the lynda77 database on WorldConnect also. We have grown from around 600 names to over 13,000 connected family members and still growing daily. Thank you Rootsweb for providing all the avenues to my roots! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lynda77/index.html
