I have had many successes since researching my geneology.Through the mailing list at Smith County, TN; I have found many of my maternal ancestors. But the most notable success I have had is in finding my brother, aunt and nephew. I had searched for many years for the whereabouts of my father and two brothers, I had last seen my father when I was four years old and had never had any contact with him since that time. I bought a new computer and went online last August(1999) and started searching all of the archives of all the geneology sites. In October I was linked up with a person who provided my ancestry through my father's line. Shortly after I found a posting that was identical to what I had posted many times--except, My grandmother's maiden name was listed(I didn't know what it was) and the post was made before I went online. So I wrote to the person who made the post and after sending him a picture which he showed to his aunt (mine also) it was confirmed that we indeed were brother and sister. He was never told about us. Fortunatly, my mother filled us in about all the details she knew of my father's family. I was saddened to find that my brother Byron had died over 11 years earlier. We have learned many details about our family since and are now planning a family reunion sometime this summer in Illinois or Indiana. I can't wait to meet my brother.
