| My Success Story: | Although I have selected GenConnect as my favorite, I'd just like to say the whole site is a major goldmine of information. Within the past year I have gone from nearly nothing past grandparents and a couple of great-grandparents to several notebooks full of information both from Rootsweb and it's sister sites. However, the grandest find just happened a week ago and came from a combination that I'll try to explain. I had very little on my father's side and was just "fishing" for info and had posted a query on GenForum's message board. In the meantime I had discovered I was on the wrong track so I went back to post a followup "nevermind". When I opened the message board, the very first message contained the recently discovered name of my paternal gggrandfather, offering a fiddle he had made. The strange thing was, my sister and I had discover just the previous week from Ancestry.com's 1900 census that he listed himself as a "violin maker". Previous discoveries listed him as a carpenter! (I suppose he did both, one for a living, the other for fun). Therefore, after contacting the person who posted the message, I am about to acquire my gggrandfather's homemade violin, with his name and the date inside! And it amazes me how all the info came about with a clue here and a clue there until it all came together. I've always liked mysteries and riddles but this form is much more rewarding. As others have already stated, if the going seems to be slow, don't give up, keep looking!

| My Success Story: | I was surfing the roots network for the name of Potts in and around the Ohio Vally. As a hoot I checked my step-father's name and my mother's. There was a name which was like my father's but spelled a other way.I checked the listing. In the short note was the name of the graveyard my stepfamily was buried in and a couple of names that matched. I sent a email to the person in the western part of the county, think it couldn't be any of our family. I knew all our family. The next day I checked my email low and behold there was a answer to my email. To make a long story short this woman was my step cousin, who had been looking for the family her grandfather had been parted from back in the 1930-40's. It was wonderful to exchange pictures and see the family look a likes. This network returned a branch of the family that had be missing for two genaertions .THANKS This was my first vist to that website.

| My Success Story: | I am from Sycamore, Ill (DeKalb web page). I alway check the posting for Garland, Weaver, Myers and many more. Two weeks ago I check and under Garland was someone looking for my Dad. So I email her. She is my cousin on my father side. I have been on a 6 yr. search for any family members, now I have gone from about 25 people on my tree to over 300 in just 3 weeks. I also found a cousin on my mom side because of the DeKalb web page. I am finding more and more everyday now. Thanks so much for not charging people to use your web site. It is a big help.
